My husband and I found Adena at Studio A Images after much searching. As a gay couple planning to get married in Hoboken, NJ, we were looking for a photographer with experience on both of those fronts--we didn't want our wedding to be anyone's guinea pig. When we came across Adena's website, it felt like a godsend. Her portfolio included many same-sex couples, and each couple seemed to be represented through their own unique tastes and styles, nothing felt "packaged" or filtered through a manufactured aesthetic--and what's more, she was a local. When we spoke with Adena by phone, we were impressed by her ability to use non-gendered language when discussing our plans (so many other vendors were fixated on who was 'the bride'). Adena continued to impress us throughout the entire planning process, with conscientious suggestions and assurances that were always spot-on. On the day of the wedding rain loomed and a few unavoidable issues came up with other vendors, but Adena's photography was the one factor we were not worried about. She navigated our pre-wedding pictures expertly, managing 25+ family members all while keeping calm and focus, and keeping us calm and focused as well. At the wedding ceremony and reception she managed to be everywhere and nowhere at once-- totally unobtrusive, but also capturing every special moment, including many we did not get the chance to witness ourselves until we saw her photographs. Adena at Studio A Images was the absolute best. Period. End of sentence. She is a professional in every sense of the word and our wedding went so smoothly in no small part due to the experience she brought to the table. Leading up to the wedding, she was incredibly responsive over email and did a really great job of not only helping us to structure the timeline for our day to minimize stress and scrambling, but also rolling with the punches if we had any questions or last minute changes in our plans. The day of the wedding, Adena and her second photographer Laura did a fantastic job of keeping everything running smoothly and on schedule. From the getting ready pictures to the couple and wedding party pictures to the family portraits, Adena did a great job of corralling so many people to efficiently get the shot. I just felt like I was in really good hands the entire time, especially given that the weather forecast introduced some unpredictability to the day. Despite that, Adena always had a plan and had an amazing eye for getting some incredible shots - sometimes planned and sometimes impromptu. Her candid shots were also everything; they really captured the energy of the party and so many of them bring a smile to my face that I know I’m going to have a bear of a time picking which ones to put in a photo album - it might just be all of them. Adena is the very best for about a million reasons, book her and you’ll be glad you did. First, of course she’s insanely talented - her work speaks for itself. She has such an amazing eye for really unique shots, finding the perfect lighting and angles and won’t hesitate to get her hands dirty to get it just right. No but literally, she got completely belly down on the ground at both our engagement and wedding shoots and the results were nothing short of stunning. It was amazing and to me sums up how passionate Adena is about her art and her clients. It’s what truly sets her apart because it’s just who she is as a human - kind, patient, hilariously witty, quick on her feet to problem solve and overall just a peaceful, positive energy during what can be a stressful day. I would pay double just for how calm and focused she kept me which is no small feat with me. She’s prepared to deal with any potential photo snafu from buttons to boutonnières, you can trust her with it all. Plus she can people wrangle like no other which an absolute gift when you have a large wedding party including small children and challenging family members.

I’d love to take credit for finding Adena but we met at my sister’s 2020 micro wedding and then the following year at the formal ceremony and reception. We hit it off so well (has she ever met a stranger? I don’t think so.) and I was impressed with how on the ball she was during what was certainly an abnormal couple of wedding seasons to say the least.
