I reached out to Upa when I was 38 weeks pregnant and in a panic because I realized I hadn't gotten any quality photos of myself and my husband during my pregnancy - thanks COVID and quarantine! So I was searching through Instagram for "NYC Maternity Photographer" knowing that I wanted photos that let our personalities show through, looked natural/candid, and had a bright and airy lifestyle look to them. As soon as I found Upa's profile I knew that I had found the perfect photographer for our shoot, and reached out via email. Being so late in my pregnancy I was so nervous that she wouldn't have availability, but I was in luck! She totally understood the urgency and squeezed us in that weekend - it was such an amazing experience.

During the shoot, she put us both at ease, helped us with posing, and was so great at giving feedback. We are not models or particularly comfortable in front of the camera (hello, I have a totally new body than I normally have with this big ole belly WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?! lol.) Upa was so helpful throughout the shoot, which really shows in the photos. I truly could not be happier with the outcome. I literally cried when we got the photos back because they are everything I told her I wanted, and more. This photoshoot is the only "normal" thing to show for a COVID pregnancy, and I couldn't be more grateful to her.

We have already committed to doing a newborn shoot with her once baby arrives because I can't imagine having anybody else photograph our sweet little bundle...I will recommend Upa to any of my friends, family, and random strangers I meet looking to document a special time in their lives with photos that will get passed down through...

I can't say enough wonderful things about Upasana! She is equally talented and kind, and just an absolute pleasure to work with!  My husband and I wanted to capture anniversary photos at the Top of the Rock to commemorate our chapter in NYC before our upcoming move to the suburbs this past December. Not only did Upasana make herself available around our tight timeline (during a pandemic nonetheless), but also offered to be flexible and reschedule as the date approached if the forecast were to call for inclement weather. Fortunately, we were met with gorgeous winter sun and, although it was cold and windy, Upasana ensured we took breaks to warm up. She even took the time to show us the images to ensure we got all the shots we had hoped for, and sent us the perfect preview photo to use for our holiday card just a few days after our shoot. Upasana captured our vision perfectly, and made the experience so special for us. We are so grateful to have found her! Upasana's film photography style is perfectly airy and dreamy, while preserving the intricate details. We are in love with our photos, and thrilled to have these sweet memories to display in our new home. We hope to travel back to NYC to have her capture our future...

We got married at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club on September 9, 2023, and after an exhaustive search, we decided to use Upasana Mainali for the occasion. I could not be happier with the outcome. Upa and her team were incredibly professional, easy to work with, and willing to go the extra mile for what we wanted. I always felt that my wants and needs were being addressed, and Upa made some amazing suggestions for our photograph that made everything even better than I had imagined it could be. We had over 200 people at the wedding, and Upa and her team seemed to be everywhere all at once in the best way. She never felt intrusive, but I was always confident that she was getting the shot. Upa has a warmth and calmness that was very necessary on the big day, and she did an excellent job of wrangling everyone when they needed to be corralled for the family photos that I wanted. Her eye for editorial style photos is amazing. Upa was always available to discuss our vision, and I would recommend her with zero hesitation.
