I recently ordered some boots online that were too small, so I brought them in to exchange them for a larger size. They had 1 pair in stock that were on clearance, so they looked super worn and gross. All the paper and packaging was missing from inside the box. I originally wanted to do an even exchange, but the cashier ringing me up didn’t know what she was doing. She tried to charge me $53 when I only paid $38 originally (I used my points and a discount code). Next, she issued me a refund to my card instead of putting my refund on a merchandise credit card to reorder my shoes. Note: I’m still waiting for my refund to hit my bank account, but I basically was charged twice for the same shoes instead of doing the even exchange. Main reason I shop online is because the cashiers in store are clueless on how to process returns from online. Read morePoor customer service and terrible management. I bought Merrell hiking shoes... 30 days old and the loop at the heal separated. An obvious manufacturing defect since I have others just like it that lasted years. DSW Website says you can return defects withing 60 days. Store Manager says thats only for unworn shoes and that's only for 2 weeks. Well..that is not what the website says, and how does one know there's a defect if they didnt wear the shoe. This is actually deceptive marketing and not legal. If I had time I'd actually persue this legally... so... I called their customer service and was told that they have no authority over the store. I called Merrell and they said their products are Warranted for 1 year for any defects. Long story short... you are better off purchasing on line and this is exactly why brick and mortar stores are closing everywhere....

I wear a 14 and NOTHING…. at all. Nada. Online says yes… well shops anywhere cheaper for that. Want to try on? This is absolutely NOT an option. Staff get it. But please fire the decision makers who think having 20 pairs of 10s and 11s doesn’t allow room for a 14 or two. Literally the people beside us had a teen with the SAME EXACT ISSUE. Rack Room is slightly further away. They will make more money today because of the execs at DSW don’t get it. Only Med/Large mens socks??? How do these managers keep their jobs? Prices went up, but not better decisions on inventory. Wasted...
