Horrible grooming experience. I will preface this by noting that I used to go to Petco in Cary. I loved the groomer there, but he left so I needed to find a new place.
We initially tried to book with other salons in Apex, but appointments were booked out 4-5 weeks. There is a reason this Petco has availability, the groomers don't have their act together and do a terrible job!!!
My mom and I brought our two Shih Tzus in, my mom want as fas as printing off a photo of the dog after a good haircut and left it with the inept groomer at 9:30 am. We were very specific about how we wanted the dogs to look. It's a hot climate so we wanted them short all over.
When we dropped the dogs off, all the groomer seemed to care about was upselling us things like nail grinding.
We never got a call to pick the pups up. I tried to call the store and no answer.
We drove over to pick up the dogs, arrived at 3 pm. You'd think that after the dogs spent hours at the store, they'd look great. We were told us the dogs were uncooperative and that's why they left the face long. The dogs looked shaggy and messy.
Our one dog, who is a very docile animal, is not hard to groom. I know since I do touch up trims on them between visits to the salon. It's more like nobody wanted to take the time needed to trim her.
I asked for a lion tail, it looked like a mess. It looked like someone shaved the dogs bodies, but didn't trim much of anything. We had waited another ten minutes to pick up the dogs because the groomer was on the phone trying to sell services to another client.
I was browsing recent Google Reviews today, I see another customer complaining about this Petco too, he had similar issues with the poor hair cut.
Not a good experience. I don't recommend. Waste of your time and $. I emailed the store manager a week and a half ago, but never heard back...
Read moreAndrea the dog trainer at petco in holly springs, N.C was the best decision I made as far as welcoming a new member to my family! I am a 1st time dog owner (rescue). Rescued her at 3 1/2 months to 4 months old. She had a total of 3 homes before I got her! I feel in love with her; however, I had a huge dilemma she wouldn't listen. She would run up to strangers and jump on them wanting attention, she was peeing and pooping in the house, when I walked her she would pull (which was ok at first until her wt. Increased to 72lbs.), if i took her to petco to buy supplies every stranger she saw or animal she was pulling me, and she had a severe case of separation anxiety! I was seriously thinking i could not handle her but i can honest say now....THANK YOU SO MUCH ANDREA bc now she focuses more on me and not strangers, she still pulls but not as much as before, she never pees or poops in the house, she is an obedient dog. Andrea is very informative, loves working with animal and very passionate about making sure your pet is happy, understands commands and making sure you understand as well. Her anxiety still exists however not to the point where she litterally has to be in the bathroom with me while I take a shower, which in my eyes is a plus. She has adjusted to being in my home for the last 7 months and Andrea was a huge part of that adjustment. She was very patient with me bc my work schedule is crazy and made adjustments so she could help me with my dog. I am truly thankful for her and would suggest if you are having issues... any kind of issues with your dog pay the money bc it is definitely worth it! She is the...
Read moreI've been a Petco customer in various cities for more than a decade, and this is by far the worst grooming salon I've ever experienced. One of the groomers called me two weeks ago and told me that I needed to get a letter from my vet saying my dog can be safely groomed because she has a benign heart murmur. Petco has no fax number OR email address for a vet to send them information, so the guy said they could send me an email that I could just show at the salon.
My dog was supposed to be groomed this past Thursday morning. They called me 20 minutes before her appointment and told me her groomer had gone home sick the day before, and they had hoped she would be back that day. Why would you want a sick employee back in less than 24 hours? And why did they wait until right before the appointment to let me know anything? They asked me to reschedule my appointment for today, 10/1. I show up this morning with my dog and the email that I would told I could just show, and was told that even though the salon manager could see the email on my phone, they wouldn't groom my dog because I needed to bring a note on letterhead from the vet.
They wasted my time AGAIN because they don't properly train their employees so that they give customers the right information. If I had known that, I would have gotten said letter from the vet. But what am I supposed to do about that on a SUNDAY when they're closed? The store manager kept pretending like this wasn't a big deal and that this wasn't poor customer service. I will never shop here or use their grooming salon again. I'm done with...
