I went to this Charter location in college and called to cancel my membership in 2018 because I was moving out of state to attend university. The girl on the phone said she can definitely cancel my membership and there’s no fee. This was 2018. I received one Scam-looking email saying my account’s in collections but they’ll take 50% off if I call now and pay. I ignored it because I assumed my account was closed when I called to close it. I called after receiving the 2nd email and was told my membership was never canceled and I owe $84. I explained that I was told it would be canceled and there was no need for me to have the membership as I moved out of state. Then I was told they could do 20% off the fee and I said no I want to speak to the manager. The manager wasn’t there and I was told that he’d call back when available. I got a voice message today from the manager telling me he can do 50% off the amount. I called back and a young man told me instead of paying $84, “it’ll just be $42.50”. We’re in the middle of a pandemic, unemployment, and income insecurity, I’m a recent graduate with student loans. $42 isn’t a small amount. $42 doesn’t even fill up my car with gas. It’s unfair that I even have to pay because I canceled the membership. And it’s insensitive for them to act like it’s...
Read moreI hate having to do this, but I used to enjoy this gym along with the Lockport location. About 8 months ago they abruptly shutdown the Lockport Gym and forced all of those club members to go here (they gave them literally a 3 days notice). The end result was this gym became crowded, especially during peak afternoon and evening hours. They promised a "new expansion, new machines, some type of hot tube, and overall more space." 8 months later and all they did was lease a small room next door and convert it to a TRAINING ONLY room... That means unless you pay for personal training you can't use it. So 8 months later we have an overcrowded gym, a few more cardio machines, and a packed weight room. I've already started looking elsewhere and it hurts because I've used this gym for many years. The staff has always been friendly, the gym is very clean, and you used to get your money's worth. Nowadays, you have to wait for weights, equipment, and machines to open up. The weight room desperately needs more space, and honestly its annoying to go there every week and not be able to do something because there is always someone using their...
Read moreSevere Personal Training Injury ! I bought a package of 48 private sessions for $1434.24. i got hurt during my 14 private training session, broke the tip of my knee. i had to go to an orthopedic. I had 34 sessions left and when i was able to return to train, they told me my sessions had expired. Then the General Manager " Jake" tried to sell me more sessions and i explained to him, that i have 34 sessions left, he acknowledged that he sees them and said, he will talk to corporate. a day or 2 later, He told me, that i lost them. But that he will give me 10 sessions for free anyways. So i accepted the offer. Then when i tried to schedule my first " free" session. he told me, that i had to buy another package, and that they will put those on top of the new package. The trainers that i had encountered there, were inexperienced and didn't pay attention to form or safety and would text on their phones. That's why i got hurt. I will never trust anything they say to me and i will never pay for their so called...
