2nd visit since the grand opening The locals have found the fine wines and chocolates from around the world. If you’re going to be decadent, do it with the good stuff. Staff said the charcuterie boards have also been popular. Insiders secret: your Bridge club will rave about the Specialty coated nuts.
Cons: Lots of newbies unfamiliar with Aldi aisle style who block the aisles as they explore the products offered. Surprisingly cramped for a new build store. And the contractor needs to come repair the entrance curb; it’s a tire killer! Prices are higher by noticeable amounts compared to Aldis in Orlando and Tampa and possibly Dunellon. One thing I’ve learned to watch out for at Aldi is fruit and vegetable freshness. Not only did I find mislabeled/mispriced locally grown zucchini today, but it had pieces chopped out? At checkout, I rejected an English cucumber; it had a soft spot (when they’re fresh, they’re also $2 less than the big chains). For a brand new store, I think more staff members need/ed to be stocking the store. Barely any of the big promotions for Christmas are in the store. They still don’t have my favorite refrigerated black bean salad.
PROS for the pros: It costs a lot less than most local grocery options. What you get or give up to get those much lower prices: limited selection, minimal staff (once the grand opening rush is over). Lots of self-checkout kiosks, but that’s the way of the world anymore. There is a cashier named Jasmine who puts the MULTI in multitasking. She’s so good I had to make sure she wasn’t a long-term employee brought in for the opening. You must be willing to pay for and return the carts. Or leave them in the parking lot, and maybe instead of asking for enough money for a gallon of gas, those in need or pretending to be in need can collect quarters! Think of it as a civic service. Great prices on the basics: eggs, milk, butter, common bread items (english muffins, sandwich thins, brioches, ciabattas, and the take and bake French bread that not only freezes well, it tastes so much better than the WD one), frozen fruits and vegetables, European chocolate that puts Hersheys to shame, wine for winos and even for those wine connoisseurs, those decadent mini cream puffs and eclairs (stack them and make your own dessert tree), access to seasonal items that change often, foods from Germany (it’s a German chain) and Canada. As you can tell I’m glad Aldi is getting closer and closer to my town.
If you like to shop in just one store and if you must have all the options a typical grocery store carries and you prefer name-brand items, skip the Aldi and leave room in the aisles for us to...
Read moreI certainly have my favorite items in Aldi's.
I think they uped their corporate direction to more of a strictly profit organization. Aldi's use to be a place to buy canned goods really really cheap and most thing far cheaper than any other retail place. Now,; although their products are good quality everything sold in there is just about equal to any other store.
Yes they do have sacrificial products to get you in. But again,; they all do that.
So if I compare Aldi to the old Aldi I'd have to say as a consumer it's disheartening to not find any place to get relief from high prices.
The other gripe is typically only one cashier and 8 self check out that won't take As American cash which means Aldi is a multi national corporation and here to make optimal profits off the American public. .
Their philosophy on inventory buying. They buy when there is a glut on the product supply when volume is high and prices are low.
They won't carry a product that won't become a ghost supplier or bare bones discounted but not pass the discounts on to the consumer.
My profession is market analysis and financial trends. I post reviews on retail outlets I typically shop in to track their services vs pricing.
In the case of Aldi, their services have severely decreased relative to consumer prices.
Aldi is continuing it's expansion agenda and will soon out price every middle income citizen and cater to the newer wealthier areas.
A definite sign of a multi national...
Read moreI love Aldi! This one is really nice and pretty! Things seem pretty well stocked. However it looses a star for me for a few reasons. 1. When you enter the parking lot off by the light (back side of the store) there is a horrendous bump that jolts you and it's probably not good for any vehicle. They need to smooth that out. Other issue. This store is so crowded during the day when I go. It's like black friday shopping where everyone is shoulder to shoulder. It is what it is. I understand it's gonna be busy, it's the only aldi in Citrus County at this moment. I also noticed the prices are a bit hiked at this store. I'm assuming because of supply and demand of being the only aldi in the county as well. My final complaint, was when I was in the Aisle of Shame the other night, there was an unattended pallet jack in the middle of the aisle, which I fell backwards onto, with no employee nearby from what I could see. Thankfully, I landed on a box of blankets, but still not cool. Just gross negligence on this locations behalf. I just wanted to look at the new...
