I do not consider myself a spa junkie but I do make it a point to visit the spa whenever I visit Oahu; Abhasa Spa is my go-to place whenever I am in Honolulu and want to get some more me time to decompress. Spa visits are one of many things I do to integrate more self-care into my life and Abhasa Spa is in a league of its own among its peers along Waikiki Beach. I have been to Abhasa a few times over the years since my first visit in 2022; I love getting my spa treatments in a private outdoor room to fully luxuriate and enjoy the beautiful landscaping around the hotel grounds (it truly feels like paradise!). The massages and facials are pricey but worth in my opinion. During my recent visit this past January, I purchased myself two bottles of Tamanu Oil, which I intermittently incorporate into my skincare routine; I love trying all different types of products on my skin (sheet masks, special creams, oils, honey, etc) - I recommend that you buy at least one bottle of Tamanu Oil on your way out of the spa - it does wonders for your skin and feels great!

I got a massage here on my last day in Hawaii. Everyone was friendly and helpful (especially given that I booked the same day). My massage therapist was great and was attentive and adjusted the pressure as I needed. I got an outdoor massage which was delightful and very relaxing. The steam room and jacuzzi in the locker area was a really nice plus, and I spent about 40 minutes there after my massage. Prices are certainly high, but fairly standard for beach resort setting and I would definitely return the next time I want to splurge.

Mixed Review: The good - The therapist and treatment definitely delivered as expected. The treatment area is beautiful and serene. The bad - Everything else is lacking. The spa itself feels cramped, and does not create a relaxing vibe. There is no real social area, especially if travelling with a partner or in a group. The change rooms are small, the stream room is tiny and the shower stalls need an overhaul. The is no Jacuzzi (for men), pool, or relaxation area after treatment...you are left with a feeling of dissatisfaction.

My husband booked a deep tissue massage at this spa, located in the Royal Hawaiian, for me as a Mother’s Day gift. I have some very painful tension in my neck and shoulders. The spa is quite a ways down two stairs and at the back of a hallway sort of tucked away inside the hotel. I loved that the staff took notice of my notes on my intake form and my masseuse Kara went above and beyond my expectations with her vibrant friendliness, checking on pressure levels during massage, accommodating my hearing disability so I would not miss her questions during the treatment and following up to see if I was satisfied and feeling better. I also love that the massage table is outside in a garden like setting, however you do not get to see the views during treatment since you are either face down or eyes covered and curtains usually drawn for privacy. You also hear the sirens, dogs barking, chatter of foot traffic and other city sounds for those who want quiet solitude this may not be for you. This spa does not offer any snacks or beverages except hot tea and water so eat beforehand or plan to eat after. I managed to enjoy the indoor hot tub/spa but had an unfortunate scare when their wooden blinds collapsed from the window next to me. I went into the hallway in a towel to alert someone to this and left a comment on their suggestions box about it, but they never offered to reconcile this issue or make me feel any better after. So in that sense I felt they needed some improvement in hospitality. I was not looking for discounts or free things but I think anyone in my position would have been very frightened by that and expect a little more empathy and understanding. I probably wouldn’t return simply because I would like a spa in better condition inside, and a little more room for its patrons to move past one another when using the facilities. But the masseuse and the products were...

I had the strangest experience at this spa. It was very touristy & was a money grab situation. The receptionist was very rude from the beginning. I wasn’t greeted properly & was rushed to pay for the bill as I walked in. It made me felt judged, like she didn’t expect us to have the money for payment. The therapist was amazing but everything was sooo rushed. We started at 1:45pm and ended at 2:20pm - it was suppose to be a hour massage.

Once we finished the massage, the therapists stepped outside waiting talking to each other about “the next appointment starts in 10 mins” & someone was rushing to open our cabana curtain. We had no time to just relax and experience the views.

During checkout, once again the receptions were so rude. They did not even acknowledge the fact that I am standing there not knowing HOW to check out or asked me how my appointment went. Even when I spoke up I was ignored. (If you are manager check the cameras for proof) It really did upset me & my husband. My husband was already irritated that the men’s facility did not have a spa jacuzzi.

We went to another few spa before this like Kama’aima and it was just AMAZING. So caring from the beginning.

It wasn’t ever about the money for us, but OBVIOUSLY for them it is. You are just a cash...

I received an 80 minute massage as a birthday gift. The experience was ok but very pricey, and at the check out the receptionist was very rude. The family member who bought me the massage as a gift had already entered his credit card info during the booking (I confirmed this with him), but the receptionist at the end acted as though she did not have it. I was then in a weird situation so I asked her to charge it to the room, and she proceeded to call the hotel front desk like I was trying to pull a fast one on her or something- talking in a whisper and then laughing. Major attitude. It ruined the experience and I wish I had gone elsewhere especially since it was so expensive. I felt guilt my family member wasted his money when I left feeling so disrespected. If you are considering this spa you would be best served to go elsewhere. I complained by email and got a response that if I booked another service I’d get a “birthday gift” but we were checking out the next day, which I think they knew, and nothing would make me spend more money there anyway after being...
