I visited here as part of a conference group. I had previously stayed at the Waikiki Beach in 2018 and decided to try this one right across the street because it looked a little more modern Hawaii in style. I had a friend that was also checking into a room that I was paying for as well. We arrived and no one was at the bellhop station so we just went up the escalator. There was no greeting which was different from the Waikiki Beach. I let the man know at the desk that I had two reservations under my name. I had also called the national Outrigger reservation line a week prior to confirm my reservations and ask about a $300 difference in price between my two reservations that were for the exact same room but booked at different times with the conference rate provided by the conference. She had explained to me that the codes must not have been updated at the time I made my original reservation and that the conference had negotiated that the resort fees would be waived as part of the conference booking. She modified the original reservation to reflect the conference room booking total price and sent me an updated confirmation.
The man checked me into my room and it had the wrong amount. I explained to him everything that I had talked to their national reservation line about and that I had confirmed the price the week before. He told me that it was the correct price. I pulled out my hardcopy confirmations and showed him the totals, and I asked for a manager. The man kept telling me "we're taking care of it". His actions were to the contrary since he pulled someone over that was not the manager to get help so I asked again. They wanted to dispute the charges, I again pointed them out to my printed out confirmation with total, I told them to contact their national reservations because they knew what the conference agreed upon rates were. That was ignored. One of the men asked to make copies of my confirmation. Throughout this process about 30 minutes had passed. This was not a good impression on me as a guest who had just gotten off a long flight and who thought I had ensured a smooth check in because I had confirmed everything prior to my arrival. He and the other man that had come to help him assured me that they would have everything figured out by my check out in five days and that I would have no more problems.
After almost forty minutes trying to check in we went to our rooms. The rooms were fine, they were clean with a modern Hawaii design. The bathroom was small and only had a shower, the closet had no closing door and there was only one sink. The sink countertop was fine for me as one person, for two or more people it would be extremely tight. There lighting was also pretty dim and would be difficult for those applying makeup and there was also no full length mirror in the room. The room cost at this hotel is mostly due to the location as it is on the main commerical street.
This hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the convention center. Waikiki is an expensive spot and the location of this hotel is like the Rodeo Drive of Waikiki of Oahu. The beach is right across the street and easy to get to. We really enjoyed the cafe that had nightly live music. The pool itself is pretty small and the jaccuzi can hold about 18 people but during the time I was there it was full .The night before my check out I went to make sure everything was taken care of, unfortunately the person that was working the desk was the same person that checked me in and he told me his standard "we are taking care of it" and assured me we would have no problems. Checkout was the same as check in. At least this time the young man that assisted me was much more service oriented and communicative. The manager came and told me that they would honor what was reflected on my confirmation. I did find out that my card HAD been charged the incorrect amount but she issued a refund. The check-in and checkout experience that I had at this hotel soured my stay at this hotel quite a bit and I will not be staying here again. It is not the...
Read moreI wanted to extend my sincere gratitude for the incredible hospitality during my recent three-week stay at your beautiful hotel, Outrigger Beachcomber, in Waikīkī. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well cared for. Your staff’s warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made a lasting impression. The customer service I received during my stay was truly outstanding. The front desk staff were consistently warm, welcoming, and helpful — always ready with a smile and quick to assist with any questions or requests. A special shoutout to Kiana and Carleen and their managers Aira and Daniel!! Thank you for your patience and flexibility in accommodating my requests for an extended stay. Every single time I needed something from suggestions for nearby nail salons to needing extra coat hangers in the room to handling sensitive dry cleaning requests - front desk associates were there with a smile and prompt solution and assistance for all my requests and inquiries. Thank you for going above and beyond to make everything seamless!!
You are a fantastic team!!!
I would also like to mention that the housekeeping service provided by Lynn and Fina was phenomenal!!! My room was always impeccably clean, thoughtfully organized, and refreshed with care. I had thrown a satin scarf on my bed carelessly one morning as I was in a rush to catch an island tour. Lynn was in charge of servicing my room that day. Upon my return I noticed the scarf was carefully folded into a heart shape and placed on top of my neatly made bed. That sweet, little gesture touched my heart deeply - it truly showed me how cared for I was at the Beachcomber. Lynn, thank you for looking after my things with such care 💖 (I have attached a photo of your little creation). The final week of my stay I had been moved to the 21st floor where Fina was in charge of housekeeping my room. Her hospitality was as equally warm and caring 💖 !! On my first day in the new room, I found two individually wrapped pineapple gummies accompanied by a sweet welcome note. I actually brought these back home to Canada with me and shared with my dad, who absolutely loved them :) That was Fina's way of spreading Hawaiian aloha all the way to the North :) Mahalo, Lynn and Fina!
Throughout my three-week stay, I ended up extending my visit one week at a time as I was planning on the go. Each time, the front desk team was incredibly accommodating — even with the weekly room changes, the front desk managers, Aira and Daniel, ensured I always had a room of the same high quality, with a beautiful partial ocean view. I truly appreciated their effort to maintain that consistency and comfort, which made my extended stay feel seamless and stress-free.
Thank you, Outrigger! Every member of your staff I encountered — from the bellman to the front desk manager to the housekeeping team — was truly outstanding. They are the reason I decided to spend my 3-week vacation at your establishment instead of other hotels. I wish the front desk managers Aira and Daniel, as well as front desk associates Kiana and Carleen along with housekeeping ladies Lynn and Fina, continued professional success in the future! You are truly stars ✨✨✨
I sincerely hope this review comes to the attention of upper management so the exceptional service and dedication of these employees can be properly acknowledged...
Read moreThe hotel was advertised as one of the best hotels in Waikīkī, the only good thing about this hotel was the location. It’s just minutes away walk from Waikīkī beach and on a luxury strip of high end boutiques which was amazing. The hotel itself was clean and standard. The staff were polite but it was very average. We had originally booked for a week but decided to extend and arrive a day early. We had booked the one night separately (same guests/room). I assumed they would be accommodating with us having 2 ocean view rooms (apparently nicest rooms in the hotel) but instead they said we would have to check out at 11am and leave our luggage at the front desk to then check in to a new room at 3pm. I thought this was inconvenient and surprised they weren’t able to just allow us to stay in the same room since we were there for a week? They put us into the Waikīkī view with no can to be seen even though we booked FULL ocean view rooms. When we told them it must be a mistake they advised us they are not a beach front property so have no ocean view rooms available. So we had paid for an upgraded room which was falsely advertised. Also once we had moved into the new room my daughter’s teddy went missing after a room clean. Reception advised it must have been accidentally picked up with the bedding by the cleaners and it will be returned tomorrow once washed. We asked everyday for the week up until checkout and there was no sign of the teddy bear which is strange that they don’t report/hold lost items? Overall really disappointed with this experience, I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world and this definitely was the worst. The cleanliness of rooms and amenities were average, definitely not worth the price, sadly this hotel ruined my first experience in Hawaii. Some minor issues we experience were that the curtains are not blackout, so very bright light into the room in the mornings. The tv casting was on and off, sometimes wouldn’t work and they only gave us breakfast vouchers for one person each? When the rooms were booked for 2 people per room, so we either had to share a breakfast or end up buying another 2 (there were 4 of us in my family). I think this hotel is very overhyped online as I had tried my best to research hotels and check reviews. I felt bad for the staff as when I would explain my issues, of course it was not their fault at all but they didn’t know what to say as it was frustrating with the room situation. Concierge also quoted us a full island tour for almost double from the shop next door! I think they need to remove the option of a full ocean view room as you can only see the sea from cracks between high rise buildings. I love Hawaii in general and Honolulu is a beautiful place to stay and experience. But please try another hotel, I don’t often leave reviews but I would hate for someone to...
