I was visiting Hawaii for my daughter’s 40th Birthday in Hawaii. My daughter called the restaurant to make reservations however they told us they were only accepting walk ins with a wait of about 15-20 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant and the female hostess told us they were no longer accepting walk ins and we told her we had just spoken with a gentleman who said to come in as a walk-in customer. She called her manager who was putting us on list and I asked why she had refused us. She appeared stunned that I asked her manager and he immediately refused to seat us. I asked if it was because we are Black. He never responded and the patrons that walked us were stunned as well. I asked a walk ip customer if they had reservations and they did not but was seated in the restaurant. I took a picture as we walked off and felt very discriminated against as if in the 1960’s! Never will I patronize this establishment and will post on every review site known to mankind!! *Response to manager’s response Sir you were not in my presence to witness the incident but believe me, your employees were the ones to create this embarrassing and stressful scene. I came to Hawaii to celebrate a once in a life time occasion and your employees made me feel as if my our presence wasn’t welcome. As a practicing attorney, I know when the law has been broken and people have been treated less than human so please “DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE RACE CARD!” If I do not receive an apology from your establishment, you will be hearing from my attorney. I refused to be treated as less than and will never patronized Noi Thai ever again in...
Read moreA good place for Thai food on Waikiki, situated near the Westin Moana and Royal Moana.
The manager presented a snotty type of "I'm better than you attitude". Almost felt like l was sorry for not wearing an alfani suit or Rolex watch when walking up for a table. Oh, well never judge a book by it's cover I always say. My wife and I were wearing standard shorts and Hawaiian shirts in the humidity and rain of this night in Waikiki. It didn't get us down we ordered what we wanted from the menu. I will say though, that our waiter was a nice gentleman who took care of all our needs and was prompt and very affable. I asked for level 3 heat for my tom yum seafood soup and level 4 heat for my Thai eggplant with tofu and pork. Heat levels were 1 thru 5. 5 being the hottest .I asked for sticky rice with the entrees. My wife ordered chicken satay and crab cheese wontons. When the food was delivered to our table they were warm dishes right off the stove. The chicken was well cooked thick pieces of chicken seasoned more than appropriately. The wontons were cheesey and full of crab, but I don't think it was dungenous crab. My soup was spicy but not overly hot with level 3 chilli. The sour taste was correct to flavor with tom yum soup. It was full of shrimp mushrooms. The egg plant with level 4 spice was still easy to handle for me. The pork was well cooked and moist, as well as the tofu. The ingredients I could detect was soy sauce, vinegar and minced garlic. The combination was good and tasty. In all a good decision, but we could have done without the snotty attitude of the snotty attitude of the...
Read moreRancid curry caused upset stomach all night. Very upset with the food, dishonesty, and way the staff handled it tonight. This is our second time at Noi. I ordered the same penang curry since it's one of my favorite thai dishes. This time it tasted very different... the curry was sour and a little tangy. I thought it was strange and I didn't want to send it back, so I ate about half of the dish.
My stomach became upset and I had two other people taste test it to see if they could tell. We all agreed something was wrong with it and I wanted to give staff the heads up that something needed to be checked in the kitchen. We weren't expecting to not pay for the dish, since I chose to continue to eat it. I just wanted to be nice and inform them about it.
The guy told me next time, tell us earlier not so late and he was going to have the chef taste it. He came back and told us it's supposed to taste like that and he and our server kept asking if I wanted something else. Penang is not supposed to taste sour. Why would I want to eat something else when I have an upset stomach? If the server came to check up on us, we would've told her earlier. The person who checked on us was not the server.
We didn't appreciate the dishonesty about the curry and to be treated like we just wanted a free meal. There were 3 staff members involved and not one apologized.
We also noticed our portions are so much smaller also. Please be more considerate of the customer needs and not just money. Not all of us are out for free food. We don't understand why the curry is not fresh since you had...
