I stayed at the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki along with my wife for 4 nights in January 2025. I encountered a few problems here and there most of which were out of the staffs control but overall we had a nice stay. I do recommend this hotel especially if you are not looking to spend a lot of time in the room and will be planning to mostly enjoy the island/beach outside of the hotel. I'll start with some of the positives. The staff were always friendly and attentive. The location is fantastic. Its not beachfront of course but its pretty much in the middle of downtown Waikiki and its extremely easy to walk directly to the main shopping area, main street with all the restaurants, and Waikiki beach. Its just one block away to luxury shops filled main street which runs parallel to Waikiki beach. I easily walked from my hotel down the entirety of Waikiki beach every morning. I also loved the the Shoreline hotel was lit up with pink lights at night because it made it very easy to spot from the main street when walking back at night. There are a lot of people walking around this area and I felt very safe the whole time. There is Ross store almost directly across the street. There was a mini food plaza next door to the Shoreline hotel and an independent breakfast restaurant attached for direct and easy food access. You are within walking distance to the International Market place with tons of shops and cool restaurants and also the Waikiki Zoo. There were a lot of exercise and fitness people running around these wide main streets and beach areas. Now onto the Shoreline hotel itself and I should state for the readers that I'm not much of a fussy person and I sort of roll with the punches when encountering something unexpected while traveling. There was valet parking available which charge about $45 each day. There probably was public parking available somewhere although I did not see any on the same street as the hotel. I'd rather pay for the convenience but to all reading just don't leave any stuff in your car either way. When driving take an immediate left after the Shoreline hotel down the alley and you will see a ramp going up and hallway leading right into the lobby. The Shoreline hotel is trying to be like a modern art hotel with fancy furniture and colorful walls but was clearly quickly renovated without the nice finishing touches. Its interesting style and all but the rooms are not that great. The rooms feel like a box with kinda crappy "modern" furniture around but not much else. The bed sheets were clean but I did find a big hair in the bathtub which was so visible that I was astonished. The room size is fine and the bed was fine. We think that they were watering down the body wash and shampoo products. The shower did get nice and hot and the bathroom got so steamy it turned into a stream room. Some of the the furniture was a little rough as well but there was an adequate air conditioner. After we were back at night from walking around and going to restaurants etc., the hotel worked for us as we just hung out on the bed on our phones/laptops but if you want a really nice hotel room then just stay somewhere else. The room lodging rate was the cheapest around for an adequate room and a safe place to leave you luggage each day. If you are on a budget and will not spend a lot of time in the room then I do highly recommend based on location and ease. Now when I was visiting the Shoreline was doing construction on all the balcony's so I could not use mine. I was disappointed that I couldn't walk onto it. There was also a lot of construction sounds come Monday morning so it would be worth contacting the hotel to see if the construction has completed and if you will have access to your balcony or not. The stay would have been way better if we could have utilized the balcony. We did get to use the rooftop pool a couple of times. Its clean with a nice view of the surrounding city but sort of small pool area. On Monday I tried to access the rooftop pool and it was shut down due to...
Read moreThis hotel is not a real 4-star, as many noted. Just look at the pictures. Room's are shoddily constructed, with paper-thin walls and doors huge gaps. You can hear everything through the gaps - 2am partiers and 6am families going for water sports. The amenities are dismal— The furniture is worse than what you can find in a junkyard sale. The TV is like 10 years+ old and smaller than a computer monitor, hanging on the side wall to the left of the bed (I don't know how you watch it). The tiny fridge was loud and dripping water. They use shampoo for the conditioner (even 3-star doesn't do this). There is only fluorescent light in the room, and blinking lights everywhere that you can't turn off when going to sleep. Btw I don't know who they serve, but they fear that you'd steal solo cups for drinking water (see photo! smh!). There is cost-cutting at every detail. Just by painting the garbage furniture gaudy colors doesn't translate to style. For travelers who care about their lodging, it's painful being there.||||Security is nonexistent. The elevator doesn’t control floor access and the lobby is not secured at night. I feel anyone could walk straight into my room, especially with the shoddy doors.||||The worst is the service. Arriving early, I was forced to wait from 9am to 3pm in the lobby like a vagrant. Their checkout time is 11am. Any 4-star would know how to prioritize cleaning to allow ONE earlier check-ins. I have reasons to believe that they were deliberate in this. Also, like another reviewer noted, when I requested a room change due to noise, I was told to pack up and check out first. Why can't I just move to the other room directly? Who made this nonsense policy? ||||The hotel also overcharged me significantly. On arrival, I found out that my booking was $400 more than another platform. I asked them to honor the market price. They refused. I said I could cancel and rebook. The receptionist with the sass (as many reviews have commented on) said, with a go F yourself tone, it's your decision to rebook, but we’re still charging you $190 for the first night "because we can." I still rebooked because that still saved me ~$200+, but maybe that's why they made me wait in the lobby "because they can." ||||They also nickel and dime you: $33+/day resort fee for a nonexistent resort (there is not even a gym, what resort!!). They also charged $47/night valet parking which they didn’t tell me until I already parked my car for a day. I don't have the energy to keep arguing with them.||||Because it’s independently owned, Shoreline Waikiki probably thinks it can do whatever it wants with customers with no repercussions. It lacks professionalism, decency, and any semblance of value for money. A 2-star in the neighborhood is going for higher prices and now I know why. I will never stay at an independently owned hotel again. It's a shoddy airbnb run by greedy amateurs masking as an institution without the airbnb platform's protections. This is my worst ever experience with hotels. I will fight every charge with my credit card company. Save yourself the hassle and seek...

The hotel also overcharged me significantly. On arrival, I found out that my booking was $400 more than another platform. I asked them to honor the market price. They refused. This is abhorrent considering how terrible the rooms are. The hotel is not worth ~$240/night that they charged me. The service and the product were just not up to that standard and I felt ripped off.
