I really wanted to give this person a chance. I honestly went back a few times just to see if it was an off day or something.
The cuts can be decent, but if you have any critic or opinion on the cut you get, you will be told it looks good regardless and quickly shuffled out the door. I've watched this happen to others and have had it happen to myself. I was told "I've been doing this for 15 years" when I had a concern about my haircut. As if I'm not allowed to have any opinions about my hair because you've been doing hair for so long. It's just dismissive and kind of rude.
It seems as if the minute the appointment is over, you need to stop talking and just leave immediately. I was told "stop talking about that because I'm just going to forget about it in five minutes anyways". As she shuffled another client into the chair. I was extremely embarrassed, and the fact that this was said in front of another client was really uncomfortable.
I don't know if she just disliked me, and that was the reason for the rudeness or what, but I just can't do it anymore. Yes it's about money I understand that, but I don't want to be made to feel like I'm a car on a factory line.
Mind you I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time, but I didn't say anything about it. I've also asked basic questions while getting a cut and been met with a curt and cold response, I literally couldn't put my finger on it.
This isn't to say she can't be a nice person etc... but majority of my experience hasn't been that way. I literally had anxiety the last time I went in because I was worried she was going to be rude to me again and it happened, so suffice to say I'm looking for...
Read moreI have been to all of the barber shops in town Premier, Mojos, Men’s hall, Sky, etc but Ellen The Barber has been the only barber I want to return to. She gave me the best cut and style when everyone else told me that my hair was “difficult” to work with. She’s not your typical right out of hair school stylist or barber she’s classically trained in Chicago with years of experience and will shape your hair to your specific head shape and hair texture. Conversation with Ellen about my hair was educational and much needed! She made sure that my haircut looked good without product before she applied product to give it a polished look. She is polite, courteous, and welcoming and clearly enjoys her work. She’ll even offer you a shot of good whisky and a complimentary shampoo and straight razor shave on the back of your neck. I was recommended to her by my friend Thomas from Square Barrels and I have recommended her to a lot of people who are also very happy with their hair as well! Take my advise and book with this amazing barber and you’ll be able to write a great...

Ellen is a master of her craft! She gave me an incredible new haircut that completely transformed my look. She took the time to talk with me, asking thoughtful questions about my life and lifestyle to ensure the style was a perfect fit.
Ellen's beard-trimming skill was impeccable, and the experience didn’t stop there—hot and cold towels, a relaxing face massage, and genuine care made it such a treat. It wasn’t just a haircut; it was a wonderfully relaxing experience that left me feeling refreshed and looking at least 15 years younger!
The shop itself has a great vibe—clean, efficient, and welcoming. Parking was a breeze, excellent service, and the price was very affordable—honestly, it was worth double the amount.
If you’re looking for a top-notch barber who delivers both perfect results and a memorable experience, Ellen is the one. Starting the new year with a fresh, modern look thanks to Ellen was the best decision I’ve made!
