I've been working with Amanda Nall at OhanaPsych for about a year to address focus and motivation challenges, and the experience has been outstanding. Amanda is extremely personable and genuinely cares about her patients - this comes through in every interaction. What I appreciate most is her thorough and transparent approach. She's very upfront about medication risks and consistently checks in about side effects to ensure the treatment remains appropriate. We've worked together to try different stimulant medications and carefully titrate doses to find what works best for me. She's incredibly accommodating when it comes to patient feedback and adjusts her assessment with each appointment based on how I'm responding. The treatment has genuinely improved my life. Beyond just the medication effects, I've gained intimate knowledge of my body-brain connection and learned to work with it rather than seeing it as a problem. This shift in perspective has been just as valuable as the medication itself. The practical aspects have been seamless too. Scheduling monthly check-ins was easy, the office staff is helpful and available when needed, and all the payment and administrative processes were smooth. I also appreciate that Amanda often has students with her who learn from her expertise - it speaks to her commitment to advancing the field. I would definitely recommend Amanda Nall and OhanaPsych to anyone seeking psychiatric care. The combination of clinical expertise, genuine care, and excellent patient experience makes this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy psychiatrist here is very hit or miss. One day M. Myers is listening, understanding and cares to work with me. The next appointment, itās as if sheās mad at me. Very cold, defensive, and even gaslit me saying she ānever said thatā about allowing me to go back on a previous medication that helped. She stated her (scarce) notes ādidnāt mention that we talked about that last timeā (when I know we did, because I called my mother in relief after said appt., explaining that if this new medicine increase didn't work, we had another option to fall back on). She continued to be defensive and not ask me any questions about any other part of how I was feeling to continue the appointment successfully. Her energy is very hot and cold. Not someone who should be working with mentally unwell people. If a professional canāt remember what we talked about in an appointment, then take more notes. Frustrated, she stated I have to get a proper diagnosis to get back on the medication I was previously taking. - If she had said that before, I wouldāve gotten tested in the meantime between these appointments so I wasnāt left struggling for MONTHS unable to get myself to do anything. - She has left me with no plan on how to fix whatās currently happening with me, and I feel defeated. I really thought she was going to be a great psychiatrist. At best, she helped me realize I may have a sleeping disorder. At worst, she has left me triggered and feeling powerless without medicine to actually help with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have only had 2 appointments with Ohana Psych and neither were that great. In both appointments I was disconnected from the provider. The second time, no effort was made to reconnect. I received a call, an hour later, to schedule a 2 month follow up. I paid for a full appointment but it only lasted less than 5 minutes. No biggie as the provider talked about her and her daughters experiences more than we talked about was going on with me.
They tried to overcharge me. You have to pay your copay before services are rendered. This is acceptable, however they tried to double charge me on my second visit and I questioned it. Note, if you have insurance you pay your copay plaus tax. The tax somehow varies. The first appointment I paid 21 dollars and some change. The second appointment I paid 30 dollars and some change. I have hmsa insurance.
I had originally sought treatment with them to ask about adult ADHD. I was told that I would need to find and schedule an appointment with a psychologist to be tested because they are only practioners and cannot diagnosis.
Lastly, I didn't realize that they are not in Hawaii but rather based out of Georgia. I have alot of southern ptsd and found it...
