My issue is the unprofessionalism of some of the instructors. I am in my late 30s and they will speak to me as if I'm a child. Even when reported, nothing is done about it. I am truly disgusted by it and if they treat me this way, just imagine how they treat high schoolers in dual enrollment and recent high-school graduates. The difference is WE are PAYING the instructors to educate US. Instructors are NOT our bosses. Instructors should be REPRIMANDED. Those who we report our issues to that do nothing should be REPRIMANDED. I increased my course load to graduate sooner so I can stop dealing with JSCC employees sooner. I take classes online and in-person. The online classes are the worst. Instructors get on students about sending unprofessional emails and they will literally use all caps and exclamation points in emails, which is technically yelling and should not be used in emails (something you learn in middle school). I can't put too many specifics because some issues are personal and this is my last semester. I'm avoiding being reprimanded for talking against the school. If you plan on or are attending JSCC, do NOT let staff intimidate you. You are NOT a child (even if you are, do not allow them to). YOU are paying the school. Even if you get grants/financial aid, YOU are giving them YOUR money. Not the other way around. YOU are putting money in their pockets. YOU have a voice. YOU are paying for your education. YOU are paying instructors that basically WORK FOR YOU, they're just hired by the school. If you're having issues with any staff members, keep documentation (keep emails or document day, time, and statement of what occurred). You have great staff members but the disrespect of some of the instructors, overshadows the greatness of some because of how badly they treat you. Please write reviews (the good, bad and ugly) on the school. Good luck on your education and I wish you all the best on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was happy to come back to on campus classes just to be disappointed. The college is even more unorganized, understaffed, and frankly lazy. Just like before the financial aid department is just people sitting on their phones being paid to help, but donāt and make the student do the work on their own. The advisors donāt know what theyāre doing just like before. I think the most disappointing part is how money hungry this college has gotten. After the third week on campus (the last week to withdraw and get a full refund) most if not all of the professors have decided to do virtual learning. In the midst of the pandemic I can understand if a student tested positive etc. This simply isnāt the case here. Iāve heard several professors say āit should be online because itās easier for usā. Thatās simply not what the student body wants or has paid for. Which leads us to not be able to get a full refund. If we pay for on campus learning, especially the students who take classes that require a lab, it should be on campus! My grades have suffered from the online learning as it is not the same as in person. If we pay for on campus learning and our classes are being moved to virtual, hybrid, or being straight up cancelled. Give us some sort of refund! Iām not paying to have my time wasted from classes being cancelled or moved to online when I donāt learn well that way. If this college canāt make it happen they need to require vaccinations, or just shut down completely. If I can make my funding work this will be my last semester at Jeff state, even with some classes I need to take to complete my requirements before my bachelors. I would rather pay more money to get quality learning than have money wasted at this college again. Please do not go to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreProbably the worst experience I've had with a school in my life. I don't care how cheap the school is, I won't be back after this semester.
I've sent over 150 emails in the last month (literally) to get all questions answered and everything moving to get enrolled.
No matter who you talk to, they tell you that you need to speak to a different person. Financial Aid, Admissions, Records, and Advisors are all a nightmare to deal with.
Took over 2 weeks (and multiple emails asking for updates) to get them to tell me what the status is on getting credit for an active A+ Certification. It literally takes 60 seconds to verify they're valid so I was confused. I just got an email from the "CIS Coordinator" stating that I would need to take a prior learning assessment to get credit for this. I paid over $400 and sat through two in person tests AND the certification is still active for another 1.5 out of 3 total years. Why in the world do I need to take another test? That's like making someone take two finals for the same course for credit.
They use Blackboard and both my instructors this term use it in completely ways. Blackboard is garbage.
Jeff State's website is beyond outdated and looks like what websites looked like in the 90s. I couldn't imagine going to this school for web development for this simple fact.
I got accepted to another school who has had NONE of the issues I've had to deal with for Jeff State. But against my better judgement I thought I'd save some money and try it for a term. You get what you pay for at this school.
This school does not have their stuff together. Take my advice and avoid it if you have a choice. (Hint: there are thousands of other...
