My warning on used cars here. I thought I'd share my experience and through conversation via email.... (Some modifications were made to help explain this more clearly on here). On behalf of Strosnider Chevrolet, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for visiting our dealership! We are thankful that you are providing us the opportunity to earn your business!
If you could take a moment to answer a few quick questions regarding your visit, we would greatly appreciate it! This will allow us to best serve you and assist our future customers. On a scale of 1-5, where 5 is exceptional, how would you rate your visit to the dealership? On a scale of 1-5, where 5 is exceptional, how was your experience with your Sales Consultant? What is your time frame to purchase a new vehicle? Do you have any additional questions or concerns at this time? Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
*My reply: No offense is intended, but I will express my honesty since I was asked. To answer the ratings: Experience: 0 Dealing with salesman ----: 4 When: ASAP Question/concern: How could your company sell me that vehicle knowing it was in such bad shape. Especially for that high of a price when it is actually only worth 20% of what I was charged? Because of my situation, I tried to negotiate the price, but the manager wouldn't cooperate much at all. They went down a tiny bit since I put down everything I had in savings, $3,500. Now, after just 3 months I find its burning oil and occasionally blowing light colored smoke. At first, I felt I should've left at that moment, but due to my desperate situation needing a vehicle ASAP, since my other car was recently considered "totalled" by the ins, I chose to stay and see what you could do to help me.
So now my financial position will be strained beyond what I can afford no matter what I do to get rid of this piece of junk and fix my need for reliable/affordable transportation.
I only came in because my coworker spoke so highly of your dealership and said that she grew up with the owners kids (she said now the company is turned over to the grandchildren). But her parents and family in general had always been taken care of fairly by your dealership with no problems over the years, although she said it's been a while since they bought from you.
Later, I explained my experience to her and now she can't apologize enough for recommending Strosnider to me. She said things must have certainly changed.
Needless to say, I don't trust your dealership for anything. It's been one of the worst and most costly experiences I've ever had. Not to mention I had to pay $179 for the diagnostics to check out the problem that car I just bought from Strosnider. If I hadn't gotten stuck with this car, I wouldn't have needed any diagnostics and waste more money like that. (Of course nothing could be found wrong with it. All they said was sorry, bought as-is.
When I came in for the car to be checked, I spoke to the salesman about possibly trading this in for another in the used section, tho I'd loose $. Everything I checked out, apparently none of these have been examined before putting them up for sale. For example the 2020 Chevy Colorado for $18k that I asked about from the website had a bad transmission,,,, "but it was up for sale"!.
The GMC Terrain that I was considering and test drove had the engine light come on while driving... After returning, he came back and said disregard that car too, it has problems that you do want. But "For sale". I wish someone told me that before this piece of junk. Do the cars even get looked at when they come in? (There was still old food in the floorboard of the backseat).
Afterwards, I see I can go anywhere else for what you're offering me now. So, I think I'm done. (And I feel sorry for anyone else who can't afford a brand new vehicle).
*Later, someone else contacted me and said they'd forward my disappointment to the sales manager to see what could be done, but they just bounced me around until I stopped hearing from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a very Dear, Dear Friend who had her vehicle towed into Strosnider Chevrolet via way of OnStar to get repaired; (mind you she had just purchased it from Strosnider just barely over a year prior) the people told her it needed a new motor. So,1st they sold her a vehicle with a bad motor, it did not have many miles on it either. 2nd, the communication from the service team was horrible. In the beginning she was told they would let her know something by the end of that week. They did not, she had to call them to get the first report, also this was in November. They then told her the motor would not arrive till March 17th. March 17th came and went. The only time they would contact her was to tell her to bring the current rent-a-car back in because they did not want a great deal of mileage to accumulate. That happened 3x. Now she called back in mid April to be told that the motor was put in and when it was test driven afterwards something else needed repairing; was not told what, nor mentioned when it would be ready. Around the 21st of April she was contacted to be told her vehicle was ready and if she did not come get it fees for storage of her vehicle would begin and penalty fees would be imposed, also she would be responsible for rental and penalty fees pertaining to the current vehicle she was driving from them. She got sick and went into the hospital; however, she did call them and let them know. Now from that point communication towards the end of the month of May took a bit of a turn b/c her health improved but now she was facing the challenge of a hack on her bank account (which if any of you that have had this happen know it takes a bit to get that corrected) so she had no access to money. She did not have money to eat. She did call Strosnider and told members of the team she would get the vehicle back as soon as she could, she was also told they would work with her on any fees she may have incurred. Well today is June 3rd. She returned the vehicle, was hit with a bill for over $4100 and when she attempted to negotiate with Mr. Banty, GM pulls a number of $2200 out of his head to be paid right then (not explaining what this cost was covering) and she could have her vehicle, she offered a thousand dollars and asked if she could setup a payment plan for the remainder. Was told NO! Also was threatened to be held accountable for the total of $15,000 for the bill in its entirety. Mind you at the time of purchase, she requested the top warranty to be had; as well as any extra coverage she could get all to be included in car payment. Strosnider Chevrolet in Hopewell, Virginia was guaranteed over $10,000 from the warranty company for the new motor and a$1,000+ from the client. Keep in mind November to the end of April they had her car at their leisure to be fixed. She extended the time courtesy of 5 months for Strosnider to repair her vehicle, endured lack of communication, (only to be told by the GM "all dealerships were experiencing long wait periods for parts), hit with an outrageous bill with penalties for their short wait period, upon returning of their vehicle, and she was willing to pay $1,000 dollars. Today June 3rd, my Friend had to call me for a ride from Strosnider Chevrolet in Hopewell, VA to Matacoa, VA... HOME! They were willing to let her walk, even though she purchased the vehicle from them; was guaranteed $11,000 today and a remaining amount of $1,200 to be paid within 30 days and was refused! Will someone help me understand how these people are doing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI held off on posting I will suggest to not buy a used car from these people they did not clean the car thoroughly I had to send it back the car overheated three times within the first month and a half two months of having it. The hood has chipped I had to pay $500 some dollars to get that repainted and another small part of the car had to pay $100 some dollars I went outside yesterday the trunk is chipping I've had the car maybe a little over a year now just crazy I got inspected somewhere else I didn't feel like driving to Schneider they inform me the air doesn't work properly the air has always worked like that in the car I just assume that's how it's supposed to work I sent it to them to fix it they charged me and then when they gave the car back the air stopped working all together then when I sent it back again they told me $800 something dollars well it was working perfectly fine before you guys touched it it Just didn't work on the high setting now it doesn't get cold at all. The service department people who answer the phone are nice but forget nice when you guys keep on taking my money the only reason I didn't have to pay for the car overheating three times after having get 6 or 7 weeks I only had to pay once because I called and complain and spoke to a higher up but honestly I felt like I shouldn't have to pay it all I hadn't had the car long. They have my car now I pick it up tomorrow I will not be paying $800 is the price they quoted me to fix the air that was working before they touched it. I have to deal with them because I have a warranty thru a third party. But it has just been something after something after something with this car if you buy a car from them get a new car they don't repair the new the old ones properly or used ones properly before selling them for top dollar Nor will they care when you bring it back to be repaired Knowing damn where they sold it to you like that. I had a terrible experience from beginning to end with my car not necessarily the people but I'm tired of getting scammed and I didn't want to speak on it but I feel like I need to for the next poor soul who thinks about buying a car a used car from these people my warranty is not through them it cost me $6,000 according to my finance company. Yes they will fix it but how much will they charge you to fix itand how many tries will it take them to fix it. And you have to pay a deductible every time while they're playing guessing games. I had a terrible experience do not buy a used car from these people if you do decide to buy a car make sure it's new because they don't properly inspect the old ones they sell they literally don't care they're just in the business of making money so now I have a car with five more years of car payments and no air conditioner ridiculous when I swear it was working before they touched it. And they're quoting me a price of $800 for honestly something that should have been fixed when they sold me the car but I did not notice it another mechanic did. Just the most horrible experience ever...
