One star is three too many. Not that I chose them, but Claytonâs was the contracted shipper for an auction house and packaged and shipped several lots of antique ammo I had won. I donât know if they just had no idea of what they were handling, but Claytonâs tossed a number of 100+ year old boxes of ammo into a large shipping box unwrapped and unpadded to bounce around like a BB in a boxcar during shipping. The result of course was pure trash poured out on my end upon opening the shipment with all but the largest and heaviest item having been destroyed in the process. Upon contacting Claytonâs, I was told I had to talk to Tom, Sr. who was my contact thereafter. He initially made sure that I knew that âsomebody elseâ packed the box and that heâd never touched it himself. He then set about trying to deflect responsibility onto UPS because the shipment was insured and he wanted them to pay for it. Shipping insurance applies to âproperly packaged parcelsâ and the UPS inspector who came to look at the photos I had taken immediately upon opening the box said it was the most improperly packaged parcel he had ever seen. Then Tom chews my a$$ for letting UPS in on the quality of Claytonâs work but eventually agrees to a partial reimbursement for what his shop destroyed. As the cherry on the top, Tom included the shipping statement with his refund check and then deducted the shipping charges from the agreed upon reimbursement amount. The rationale for the deduction being, what, that he went back and paid UPS a second time? Iâd already paid the shipping charges once, as well as a larger amount for (mis)handling that should have been but was not refunded. I donât know anything about their range or their in-store products, but I can say very confidently that Iâm not aware of any establishment in any realm displaying a lower level of integrity or responsibility in their work or...
Read moreCan I leave a rating less than one star, because I DEFINITELY want to. This place IS racist. 100%. A group of us came in, mind you, none of us smoke weed. Immediately we were asked if any of us had weed on us. All of us said no, the man working the front said âWell I can smell it.â And to make matters worse, the old man working there tried to call one of us over in the group pretty much making a scene. âCan I talk to you for a second?â Like what?! Not only was the interaction EMBARRASSING, but it was highly disrespectful. What I found even funnier was that when we first walked in, the other guy at the counter was giving us targets to shoot and was in the process of setting us up to use the range. Why go out of your way to tell us weâre good, then racially profile us? We all found it very interesting that we were the only colored people in the establishment at the time and they decided to pull the âWeed card.â Especially AFTER somebody was already setting us up & in the process of getting our paperwork together. A person can say they smell whatever they want, but if a drug test isnât offered, itâs always going to be their word against whoever else they accuse. There is no amount of apology that anyone can offer, because at the end of the day, we were looked out horribly as we walked out of that store & we were treated horribly. Frankly, you guys suck. Dont even bother commenting back, we will never return. And to anyone else who is colored that is considering even going to this place, donât waste your time. You might âSmellâ when you go in there....
Read moreI've been here twice and the second time I walked out of there furious at the large man behind the counter. I was in company colors though and had to refrain from any agitated response, but I fumed the whole way home. He was rude, arrogant, and belittling. I admit I have limited knowledge in many topics, my life isn't based around a store like his. I am only just branching out into tinkering with weapons, and I had never mounted an optic before.
But, he was right about what I was doing wrong, and I'm not a person who can't admit I was wrong. He sold me something I could have gotten on Amazon cheaper, but the trial and error would have sapped me for more in the end. He listed several potential courses of actions, I opted for the one I was generally on so I wouldn't have to modify my plan to greatly, and it worked. So I appreciate the effort on his part, even if it was punctuated with him mumbling about teaching the untrainable.
I suppose I can admit to a grudging respect for a man who can, in under 2 minutes, insult me, listen to what I was attempting, throw out 3 options without hesitation, throw a product from behind him at the salesman and insult me again and never actually make eye contact. If you're not an expert gunsmith, and Tiny is there behind the counter, swallow your pride walking in, it's going to get trampled. If you keep the knee jerk reaction in check and manage to speak with him, you can probably get...
