Encore Montrose Apartments — Local services in Houston

Have been in Encore for nearly a year now. It has been one of the best apartments I have lived in (and I have lived in more than a dozen.)

It's in probably the most perfect location in Houston. Central, but enough off the beaten path that it feels significantly less sketchy (and has, so far, had no car break-ins in the time I've been here, while every single other apartment I've lived in Houston had multiple while I was there, and these were nice apartments in good parts of town.)

The staff is attentive and very pleasant, all of the people in the office are very nice to interact with and do their jobs well (my lone gripe was the rollout of the app-based gate unlocking system-- when it didn't work for me the first day, after hours, there wasn't any troubleshooting plan in place so I sat outside the gate for 20 minutes until someone else came in-- had there been an emergency, that would have been less than ideal.) Otherwise, they are great at communicating and with keeping the community running smoothly. Probably a top 3 management team/office staff I have lived under!

So far not a single roach inside our apartment which is something of a miracle in this city. Everything generally feels pretty clean and well kept. Most all of the machines in the gym have worked the whole time and are kept clean (I think one treadmill is broken.)

The apartment itself is nice and gets a lot of good light. Nice fixtures. Great washer and dryer. Decent amount of noise from the upstairs neighbors but nothing out of the ordinary. Fairly well climate controlled.

My rating is really a 4.5 for two main reasons-- one, the elevators are ALWAYS BROKEN (particularly the freight elevator, which is obnoxiously small for a freight elevator.) A little annoying in the mornings, when you are running late with your kids in a stroller, to find your usual elevator is out and you have to walk to the entire other side of the building to get down to the garage (and that's an entire city block, lest you think I'm being too whiny, nearly a 5 minute walk.)

The other issue, which I'm surprised I didn't see in more reviews, is that it is VERY noisy if you are on the south side of the building (not sure if it's less bad on the higher floors or not.) Traffic on 59 is essentially continuous, and apparently every other person in this city has a muscle car that they rev to 10,000 RPMs through their modified muffler on this stretch of highway (it's worse when the sun goes down.) If you don't have a loud white noise machine, you will hear it off and on all night. Gets a little old.

Otherwise, great apartment and I'd recommend it to any of my friends. I might just suggest they get a top floor on the north, east, or west side of the building, if possible, if they're bothered by road noise. Will miss...

Went in for a tour of the property after a very unfortunate event occurred at my current residence. My mood and demeanor very disturbed and overcast; I was immediately greeted by Carina one of the leasing staff at Encore with a smiling face. As I discussed a few of my concerns and described my needs in order to consider a property, Carina the leasing agent, was able to supply with a minimum of 5 floorplans that each catered to specifics that I was interested in. While she handed me the three layouts that I liked the most from the five we went on a tour of the community and she gave me a little information about her history in the community leasing industry which also gave me a sense of comfort. Immediately following the tour of the first floor amenities I was escorted to the communities club room and offered a beverage of my choice and sat down with Carina to discuss my thoughts/concerns likes/dislikes about the community thus far. The time and effort put into the tour offered me a very home like feel and gave the impression that Carina cared about my thoughts and took pride in the community that she was showing. Once I toured the apartment layouts Carina never pushed me into getting the most expensive one or even the cheapest one, instead she took the time to listen to my commentary and read my body language and she helped me pick the layout that spoke most to me. She was considerate of my beliefs and spirituality and even pointed out a few things in the apartment I hadn't even noticed. It took me about a week to make my final decision and the ultimate choice I made was on the finishing touch Carina placed on my tour. Carina took the time to send me a handwritten card in the mail to thank me for taking the time to tour with her and for trusting that she would make my living experience at Encore a pleasurable one. Although I came in under unfortunate circumstances Carina was able to turn that into a move I am now looking forward to. I just moved in here a few weeks ago and I can't say enough about this place! I have only been in Texas for 1 year now, and this place is night and day compared to where I stayed at in Kingwood.

The location is great! There are so many explorable places all within walking distance and or a short commute. I always go off of a "Vibe" when I feel out an area. This area is quiet, people are friendly, plenty of fur babies in the community and for me lots of Vegan options which I couldn't find in a 30 mile radius in Kingwood. I am still exploring and finding something new everyday.

The apartment itself is what I call top tier! I stay in the A4, it is quite bigger than it looks on the website FYI. At my old place you could hear people walking the halls and when your neighbors come and go. I don't hear any of that in this apartment. Its super quiet! From the appliances, to the amenities, and they also have a huge Bark park for the dogs. This was a huge selling point for me due to working remote and my dog having so much energy. The Bark Park is well kept and it seems as though most people pick up after their pets so its very clean. There is also 2 dog washing stations and a separate area to wash your dog. These stations are professional cleaning pet appliances!

Lastly the staff is amazing! I dealt mostly Aminta who went above and beyond to make sure the process went smoothly for me transitioning here. Joel has been great also. Super friendly and welcoming for request and questions.

My only gripe out of everything I love here is that the elevators are slower than what I have experienced. Both elevators are clean and well kept, just a bit slower than what I would like. To me that is very minor compared to all of the other wonderful things I love about this place. I wish I would have found it sooner and look forward to residing...
