UPDATE: After the review below, I increased the stars. I could not give 5 stars due to the length of time it took to get to this treatment. The insurance and the office were able to authorize medicine to be taken as a placeholder to keep the cancer in check until a study can be approved. Thank heavens! Son will be able to take pills daily and hopefully be able to have a more normal life with this devastating illness, pending information concerning his mri and blood work.
PREVIOUS POST: Very upset. My son has synovial sarcoma. It recurred in November 2024, after being dormant. He was finally scheduled for chemo yesterday at the main campus. A pic line was put in Tuesday in Houston, and the next day, we traveled there again for the chemo infusion. It did not happen. The office had failed to schedule a simple blood test, and they could not test his blood without orders, and then the blood draw was closed for the evening. Today, he received notice that they failed to obtain an updated mri to follow protocol for the chemo and put off his treatment for another week. Also, the office keeps changing appointment dates with various locations in Houston. He is just trying to get by with this devastating cancer that seems to have no cure. He was told that eventually he might be a candidate for a study, but there's nothing in his Mychart. He has to keep his job to have health insurance, and with the ever changing scheduling, it has become very problematic. His insurance also said they could not get basic information from the doctor's office. Patient advocate has also been no help....
Read moreMy brother who is a patient was taken to the emergency room. They put procedures they plan on doing on his chart. Nothing was done at all. Given pain meds and woke up at 5:45 only to be released without resolving the issue. Put him outside in a wheel chair for a hour. Due to covid we could not be present with him in the emergency room. He called us and told us he was placed out side after they release him in a wheel chair. This is so disrespectful on so many level especially with my brother condition. There goal was to hurry and get another bed open and the nurses were terrible and you felt so rushed. No one ever took me to get the procedure that the doctor had assigned. I left in as much pain as when I came in. I will never use there emergency room again. St Luke’s is much better but my doctor at Md Anderson is wonderful. Emergency room worst I have even been too. Also my...
Read moreThe slogan at MD ANDERSON should be crossed out to say no insurance, no service, and no cancer treatment. They will kick you out if you are uninsured. A family member with cancer Lymphoma was thrown out 4 hours in, even though he was vomiting, panting, and gasping to breathe with w/no blood flow to the kidney and a clot in his lung. After they realized he was uninsured, he had to walk to Ben Taub, who immediately took him in; Ben Taub diagnosed several blood clots, one in the chest and the leg, and a high fever. It's so risky to throw someone out who is that sick. With no supervision to make sure they make it safely to another hospital. And to make matters worse, that wasn't enough for insult, no insurance cancer center, billed him $38k for kicking him out—complete Scammers. I am so disgusted with the...
