My son needed minor surgery and I was referred to UTHealth Houston. Dr. Danielle Sobol along with her assistants did a phenomenal job and my son recovered successfully after surgery. Dr. Danielle Sobol with her charisma and joy made my son feel relaxed before and during surgery, to be honest I had never seen such dedication in a doctor to his patient before. I also want to say that at that time we did not have medical insurance and I was surprised by what they charged me for the surgery they did on my son, very affordable because we did not have medical coverage.

The registrar's office has messed up my applications at least twice. I had to call multiple times to verify that the correct documents were on file with the current application. They bounce you around to different people within the registrar office and often do not return voice message or emails. I had to resend a transcript a couple of times for an undergraduate program application. I had to get my reference people to resend the recommendation form for graduate program applications. One time, I had to tell them the date and name of a reference person so they could hunt through their emails and they discovered it after previously saying they had not received it. I found out my resume for the current application was the one from a few years ago rather than the one I sent in the current month for the current application or even last year's resume for last year's application! If I had not called multiple times and emailed multiple times, a resume from multiple years ago from undergraduate years would have been used for the 2022 graduate program application and it was likely used in a 2021 graduate program application unbeknownst to me at the time.

Here is where the staff responsibility comes in. Any competent reasonable person would see that the stuff listed on the resume was from multiple years ago and that the file name indicated multiple years ago, and then that competent reasonable person would search the registrar email inbox for an updated document with file name and content showing the current year. Instead, it seems that the application, which the applicant has to call to find out what is being used, is merely checked off with old documents by the staff. By calling, I found to my shock that the very old resume was being used and also, I surmise, had been used for the previous year.

In addition, the application portal is opaque and outdated. It doesn't allow the applicant to see which items are “attached” or “assigned” to the required checklist, and it doesn't allow documents to be uploaded directly. Most documents must be emailed to the registrar. This means that some applicant resume from many years ago for example might be used by the registrar staff to meet the requirement of “resume” for the To Do checklist. The item on the To Do list just disappears but the applicant has no way of knowing what document file was used.

How many applicants were disqualified or not updated each year due to the application portal problems and, more egregiously, due to the registrar's office level of dysfunction? The staff required to carry out certain processing are not getting the job done. They are failing to monitor their email boxes enough for the supporting documents, staff pass off calls to others as if it is the responsibility of someone else to take care of “that issue”, and the only person who seems to care about the candidate's application is the candidate. The candidates/applicants are spinning their wheels taking prereq classes and completing certifications and studying for entrance exams and scrounging up references and putting together applications which merely get tossed out or not looked at properly because they are not processed accurately. The schools at UT Health are suffering because they unjustly disqualify candidates for applications that look incomplete or not current.

Applicants pay an application fee and are entitled to an accurate processing of their application. This is not happening and is infuriating because the applicant is at the mercy of the gate keeper registrar office to enter into their desired school or program at UT. The application could decide the next several years of an applicant's life and the applicant took great effort to get to the point to submit the application. I give their office 1 star out of 5 for effectiveness and reliability. Someone at UT should take notice and improve that registrar department, as it affects all students trying to enter the school, especially the post...

Only in the medical profession, doctors will refuse to treat a person when another doctor did the procedure. Doctors are presenting an uncaring attitude even when the other doctor did not resolve the problem and possibly caused more harm. Doctor’s pledge is to help people, instead a doctor causes a person further anxiety, and metal and emotional stress by telling them I can’t help you need go see the other doctor. The most important part of patient-doctor relationship is TRUST. When a doctor’s actions cause TRUST to be ruined, a person will seek another doctor. Honestly as a doctor, you would look for another doctor too? Doctors are not open-minded about patient symptoms. Doctors not being open-minded causes them to lose focus on the particulars of the surrounding area where the symptoms transpire. In a case an implant is at the top of the ear. There is a sensation at the implant site. What transpires is feeling of drainage in the ear, ear pain, fullness of the ear, balance issues and a feeling of passing out. It’s a known fact the area around the ear there are nerves and blood vessels. It’s a known fact ear issues will affect a person’s health. A normal person that is open-minded understanding the particulars of the surrounding area will surmise the implant is causing the symptoms. Why, the sensation at the implant site transmits signal through the nerves and blood vessels to the ear and the ear transmits signal into the brain, thereby causing disruptions of brain functions. Doctors who are not open-minded, say no, as the implant is outside the skull, therefore it will not cause...

I was asked by Dr. Ho to direct my review to the practice review site so here you go. If I could have gave a negative 5 it would be considered well deserved. They do not follow, call you with surgical times etc., they change dates. When I accompanied my friend to his surgery after he had it confirmed from the office we and time changed as late as 8:30pm the night before, he found out the office had failed to get his insurance approval as required. In calling them from the hospital Btritney said the hospital was responsible for the date and time changes which wasn’t true. The doctor scheduled other surgeries and Britney or other staff FAILED to follow protocol to schedule the surgery. He and I both missed out on our time from work today, out parking, he hadn’t eaten since around 9:00 the night before and they ask him WHY he’s upset that they called him back at the hospital stated it was approved and to STAY cat the hospital becythe insurance finally got approved and he would be having his surgery., only to call back 20-30 minutes later to tell him he hadn’t been apart and he needed to go home and reschedule. God works in mysterious ways and he clearly is not the doctor to do this for him. They CLEARLY do not care. The doctor needs to revamp and get a competent staff. This speaks...
