I am pretty big time obsessed with this store. It is reminiscent of Big Lots back before they got too big for their britches -- weird one-off flavor variants of popular products, some knock-off stuff, remaindered books, and liquidated lots from other stores (weirdly, in-house brands even). Seems to be a respectable amount of product churn even weekly, so you never know what random must-have you will encounter.
Shout out to the candy, always exciting. Cheap cheap books, if random selection. Usually good board books for the wee one. Random but very cheap comic book TPBs, with the downside that they are random so you may only be able to find volume 3 of this and then volumes 6 & 8 of that, if you're a completist. Good coffee table books, politics, biographies, airport fiction, just a good mix. I have found some real gold here, as cheap if not cheaper than getting them used.
I do wish they had movies, but then I would probably be here every day, so maybe it's for the best. Clothes are rather limited, but they have kitchen goods, health & beauty, limited automotive, cleaning supplies, absolute boatloads of candles, three aisles of toys, and some lawn & garden. Always an adventure.
Shout out also to the staff -- they seem to run an unfortunately small crew for the size and business of the store but they are always nice and I think I've had a pleasant conversation with every cashier I've...
Read moreI'm very disappointed! I have a special needs child and we freqent this Ollie's often at least twice a week, my Autistic son was having a meltdown on the checkout line this morning and through a soft toy... the toy didn't hit him but he left it on the floor glared at us and as he was checking us out I apologized and he was being rude didn't say a single word back rolled his eyes at me and my son my husband walked out with my son as I paid and I heard him mumble people need to get ahold of their kids I stopped looked back in more disbelief and walked out! This person does not belong in customer service and honestly I feel somewhat humiliated as we spend a lot of money and time at this location and I'm considering going elsewhere . It is hard enough taking our boy out but this man's behavior made it even more of a challenge! As for my sweet 4 year old son he didn't even notice however we did and we felt it! Sensitivity training should be apart of orientation on any job. Management should know that this behavior should not...
Read moreMy husband and I really enjoy visiting Ollie's and checking to see what random goodies they have for us each visit. They have many items in stock on a regular basis, but we can always expect to see some interesting products that you better grab if you want them because once they sell out, they're gone for good. The prices are often really good deals; although, on rare occasions, the product is cheaper because it has "passed its prime." Their employees are not readily available in the store -- you pretty much only see them at the register and in the front of the store -- but they are willing to help when you ask them. Sometimes, the pricing is unclear, and it's frustrating at check out to discover something is more than you thought it would be. I have heard others complain that the store is messy or confusing, but we see that as part of its charm. Essentially, the best thing about Ollie's is the feeling that you are going on an adventure to explore what's available and hunt down your...
