I really enjoyed the January trip to Costa Rica and checked a lot of things off the bucket list. I gave 3 stars because of the following: The trip was supposed to be a guided yoga trip with yoga classes and the opportunity to be led in some personal reflections along the way. There were 2 yoga classes and a couple of early morning meditations....no discussions about personal reflections, etc. The Yoga guide appeared to be unsure of her role and uncomfortable teaching the yoga class and leading the meditation and took no leadership in the guiding of the trip,. Expensive...Only 1 meal was included and minimal activities included. Places to eat were not readily available and were expensive. In fairness, I should have insisted on more information regarding what was included before booking the trip. I did not and I paid a lot more than I would have expected to pay for a comparable guided trip. Disorganized...I have been on several guided trips abroad and am accustomed to getting detailed documentation several months in advance of what is included and what is available at no additional cost for each stop. For example, have booked a guided cruise to Alaska in May and have already received detailed Port sheets showing the cost of each available added activity per port and detailed walking tours for each stop showing maps/routes of tours that are free and what is available to see/do on these free walking tours including the difficulty of the terrain. Have also already received detailed information on the private functions that will be held for our group while onboard. The G-Adventures CEO was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, nice and a pleasure to travel with. I would definitely travel with him again.
I think this was a first venture of this type for Four Dragons. I also think that they expected only young, fit people who wanted to do their own thing to be on this trip. I am sure they will do much better in the future. If you are considering one of their future trips, please go. Just be sure you have all your facts so you can plan...
Read moreKind of an odd experience. I was looking for a home studio as I’m moving to the area and signed up online after seeing good reviews. When I walked in the instructor made what felt like a pretty off comment about my “trendy” yoga mat and attire. I’ve been practicing for a while, I wear what’s comfortable and have a thick high quality mat specifically due to joint issues. It was advertised as a vinyasa class but there was very little actual flow and honestly felt more like a workout class. Several times we did “sets” of exercises and the instructor told jokes and chatted with regulars through the class, providing little instruction on the poses we did take. She then spoke continuously through the entire shavasana which was a little frustrating but also the only time she acknowledged any mental connection. Felt weird and forced. I’m giving three stars because this might be the right studio for some people but I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable and I think others hoping to step away from traditional exercise vibes might feel that...
Read moreThere are few things in this world like Four Dragons. Come here to come home to your body, your soul. My every Thank You can trail back to this place.
The current listing may be a little out of date, as I believe they no longer offer Chinese medical classes. Maybe the Medical Qigong course is still offered, with Darryl? If so, get in to reserve your spot — he’s fantastic.
Four Dragons Yoga continues to go very strong, and you can readily access their class schedule on the MindBody app.
Kim Taurins is a triumph, and her classes are a gift to the women of Houston. She’s trained an extraordinary team, and while I have yet to meet most of the new instructors, the fact that they’ve been chosen to become a part of this family of extraordinary service and experience speaks volumes.
I’m not sure how much Patrick/Lao currently practices here, but he is the heart of the place, and packed to the gills with skill and magic. If you get the opportunity to meet, attend class, or be treated by this man, get on that. He...
