I usually LOVE hui lau shan. We are regulars at the bellaire location. We tried this location, but will not be going back. We ordered our regular items- handmade Paloma drink, extra chewy balls, and mango mochi. The mango mochi was frozen when we bite into it. We just thought possibly the fridge was too cold and we would take it home. Today was horrible. My son bite into it and spit it out. He said it taste bad. I gave it a try and sure enough. The texture of the mochi was old, almost rubbery, the inside fruit- the mango taste spoiled - the sour taste and not the sour from unripe mangoes, and then liquid gushed out from the center. (This has never happened to us and we usually bring home the mango mochi tray!) I would have gave this location a 1 star if it wasn’t for the friendly staff, the easier parking than bellaire, and my go to handmade Paloma drink. Word of advice- if it taste weird /frozen initially - it will probably be bad when you take it home. Try to get them to replace the mango mochi tray right away! It’s pretty pricey, so basically it was a waste for us!

I love their Chinatown location so I was excited to try their newly opened location in the Heights! This location is beautiful and clean inside, with plenty of seating and cute photo ops. Of course, all their mango dishes are super fresh, with high-quality sweet-tasting mango and toppings. I tried the mango and coconut juice with crystal jelly drink (D7) for the first time, and I think it will be my go-to drink now. So delicious, and so refreshing on a hot day! I will definitely be back.

Typically go to the Chinatown location and never had issues there. Went to Shepherd location first time on a Saturday night. Called to see if it was ok to get there 5 mins before closing time for to-go order and employee said yes over the phone. When I entered, the two employees exchanged looks to make it obvious that they were annoyed. I apologized and told them I called and they said it was ok. I ordered 2 chewy balls and they claimed they only had chewy balls for one order. As they were handing me my order, the employee placed 4 containers of chewy balls on the counter so I could see them. They weren’t in a bag and when I asked, “oh, you have more chewy balls,” the employee ignored me. The message was loud & clear, “we have chewy balls but we don’t want to give them to you.” I wanted to leave a negative review but decided to give this location another chance. 2 weeks later, re-visited this location but this time got there at 9:30 (30 mins before closing time) on a Friday night. Same 2 employees exchanged the same looks as I entered. They were already mopping the floor so it smelled like cleaning chemicals. There was a couple eating inside the shop. I placed a to-go order for 2 chewy balls and the same employee again claimed they didn’t have enough chewy balls for 2 orders and that I would have to order one. I told him this was the second time I visited on a weekend and they were out of chewy balls, he ignored me. As we were waiting for our order, 2 couples and a party of 10 people walked in. All were being told that they were out of chewy balls. When I got home and ate the chewy balls, one of my bites tasted foul. I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy spat in my order. Never going back to...

First off, I’ve been to the Bellaire location and this is not the same consistency.

First off the line starts on multiple sides with no order so what should have taken a few min took much longer.

Secondly, when they call out your number they don’t tell you what it is. The incompetent couple behind us took our entire order, opened it, and as we were asking the staff where our order is they realized those people took it. We asked to make another as the couple had already opened our dessert and were starting to dig in. The guy literally took it to the back for about 3 seconds, put another cap on it, and said it was a new order. If you can make it on 3 seconds why did we wait 15 min for it the first time. 3 seconds y’all. Didn’t even pretend even care more than 3 seconds to make a new one. At this point I stared, he stared, and I didn’t want them to spit in it if I complained it wasn’t new.

Disgusting and just poor service. DO NOT EAT HERE. If this is what they consider sanitary, only God knows what they do when we’re...
