Mattress Firm Valley Bend at Jones Farm — Local services in Huntsville

Not satisfied with our purchase experience. We purchased a Tempurpedic bed with adjustable frame from Mattress Firm. They said sale prices were nationally set so we wouldn't find it lower priced anywhere. That may be true for the mattress, but the base was on sale for $300 less on Tempurpedic's website. Mattress Firm instead offered a $300 credit towards the purchase of their Sleepy's pillows and bedding. Sleepy's is Mattress Firm's own brand and those items are overpriced and extremely low quality. No one would choose to buy them outside of the $300 promotional credit.

I was hesitant to buy here, but my husband felt strongly that buying from a local brick and mortar would ensure a better delivery experience. He was wrong. You must pick a day where you'll be home from 8am to 8pm as that's the initial delivery time window. The night before delivery, they text you with a two hour window.  We got our text after 4pm. If you don't like that window, too bad. You have to pick another day and do it all over again.

We were given a delivery window of 1:45-3:45pm. Pro tip, you can track your delivery online on the Mattress Firm website. If you use a computer, you can actually see where they are in a map. It does not work as well if you are using a cell phone. The tracker showed we were the 7th stop of the day and they'd be there between 2:15 and 2:45. At 2:45, the tracker even said they were on stop 7 and at our house. That's where switching to the computer was handy because the map showed they weren't near us. At 3:24, we got a text saying they'd be there in 19 minutes. They got there at 4 pm. Not in the delivery window and almost twice as long as drive as it should have taken, but okay.

Mattress Firm doesn't have a delivery truck, and I'm not convinced the drivers were employed by the company. A Ryder Truck pulled up with two guys who looked like delivering beds isn't, or shouldn't be, their day job. They were arguing loudly outside. The men lacked both the strength and equipment to carry a bed frame and mattress. They dragged the bed frame box across the yard, up the brick stairs, and through the front door. They didn't put anything on our wood floors to protect them. Instead, after scratching the floors in our foyer, they dropped the box on our carpet runner and dragged the runner into our master bedroom. Fortunately, the master is on the first floor because they never would have made it upstairs or at least not without even more destruction.

The bed frame was 214 lbs. Not light, but if your job is to team lift 214 lbs, you really ought to be able to do that. Then came mattress. The mattress was wrapped in plastic, but they had to drag that too. Before they even made it inside, the plastic had snagged on the walkway and ripped, leaving us with a dirty mattress. They did not apologize. They also forgot to give us our Sleepy's mattress pads we "purchased" with the $300 credit and my husband had to show them the receipt before they should rifle through their truck to get them. That took about an hour and then they struggled to get the old mattress out to their truck and left.

There are many Tempurpedic dealers in the area and you can just buy online. Heck, most furniture stores are authorized dealers even if they don't carry them in your showroom and they'll give you a discount on a bedframe or other furniture when you buy the mattress through them, so shopping elsewhere. I can't guarantee your experience would be better if you shop elsewhere, but it's hard to imagine it could get much worse.

Side note - Mattress Firm brags about their 120 day return policy. If you don't like the mattress, you can return it in 120 days and get a refund less a $250 return charge. What they don't tell you is that it doesn't apply to the base and, should you return the mattress, you can't return the base and the also deduct any discount you received on the base because you bought it with the mattress. If I could give Mattress Firm 100 starts right now, I would. Calaeb!!! I love you!! You got me what I needed. You are very attentive and personable, I was more than just a sale to you! You give me hope that there is still kindness in the world. I’m so grateful that I came in when I did. I was literally at another mattress companies store and they were closed, I googled “mattress sales near me” and mattress firm came up. I figured I should go look and see what the pricing is to get an idea. I’ve always had to purchase cheap $100 mattresses from Amazon because GOOD QUALITY is priced out at $800+. I just moved and I couldn’t afford it. But I knew I had to get off the floor and get a bed soon, no more holding off. Calaeb anticipated my needs and helped me, he was very understanding of my situation and worked me out a fabulous deal. I was about to pick my bed up the same day!!!!!!!!!! I will certainly be back to this store when it’s time to replace my mattress! I thought that time would be sooner than later, however after bringing home my platform bed frame yesterday I’ve realized my mattress is still good! Slept through the night for the first time (with out waking up to roll over, in pain) in years. The gentleman that assisted me was very kind, helpful, even loaded it up into the truck for me! And helped my Mom, answering her questions about some pillows. He was very knowledgeable about their products. I can’t remember his name but I believe he said he was the manager or assistant manager.
