I frequently shop at this Best Buy - simply because it is closer to my home in Independence.
On Saturday the 23rd of July, 2022 I went to this store to buy a new MacBook. I had the intentions of trading in several devices then using the Gift Cards I received to buy the computer.
I was greeted and ask to wait at the Cell Phone gallery.
When arriving, I noticed a "supervisor and representative huddle" occurring. There appeared to be two Cell Phone representatives, one of which was helping a couple upgrade phones, and the other with their supervisor doing some sort of review.
What happened next, was fairly uncomfortable, and sort of frustrating.
The employee, whom I've worked with in the past said to me, "oh, someone else is going to help you, I'm going to lunch."
The supervisor, said nothing. She didn't even attempt to find someone to assist me, she just continued her on the floor review of expectations. "Gaining commitments of selling 3 accessories to each and every client who makes a purchase in this area."
Finally, after waiting around for nearly 15 or so minutes, she reluctantly begun to assist me.
As she begun to explain to me how the process worked, I mentioned that I was aware of the requirements that were necessary to trade devices in. The Find my iPhone features and other master locks were removed, the devices functioned properly and had been erased.
She then proceeded to exclaim to me that she was the department manager, and I was going to listen to her.
Any time an employee has to proclaim that they are the department manager as a means to try to intimidate a customer during a conversation tells me everything I need to know about their confidence level in handling customers and what they need.
The young lady in with Pink hair had to tell me 3 or 4 times about how she was in charge of the department so her way was correct.
Little did she know that I've managed a cell phone store, worked in the cell phone industry for nearly 10 years, and just prior to beginning work in the cell phone industry - worked for Best Buy.
The point being that I felt she was not trying to gain understanding or come to some sort of common ground, she had taken the stance of I'm going to do this, and you're going to do it my way because I'm annoyed that I have to do these trade in's and the paperwork associated.
In my opinion, the insecurity was in peak form. After the proclamation of her being the department manager, very little was said between client and representative. I chose to take the gift cards, and go to another location to buy my computer.
I'm thrilled she's made the position, but making people feel inferior, or uninformed is not how you come to an agreement in a purchasing situation and has otherwise made me uninterested in doing business at...
Read moreI have bought two cell phones at this location within the last year and found the associates to be fantastic. They seemed knowledgeable, yet didn't try to sell me on things that I didn't need and answered every question that I had. So when my husband and I were considering buying a computer, we decided to go there. We went last night and spoke with a young woman who seemed eagar to help, yet gave us space to talk and think. We discussed it over night and went back today with a computer in mind and a credit card in hand, ready to spend a large chunk of money on the computer of our dreams. We did have a few questions regarding the Geek Squad service plans so when asked if we needed some help, we replied that we would love someone to answer our questions. Unfortunately, the individual who was paged to answer our questions was one of the rudest people that I have ever had the displeasure to have to interact with. Our question seemed to be a difficult one, since he called over three people, and then finally a man who seemed to be a supervisor, before we got an answer. The supervisor (or whoever it was that we were finally able to talk to) was fantastic and gave the answer in a clear manner that put us at ease, but the damage was already done with his predicessor who, when asked about the services offered, ripped the brochure out of my hand a minimum of 5 times to look at it himself, when we were standing at the desk that had an entire rack full of brochures that would've worked for him. In the midst of this, he would show us the service plan that we were not asking for insisting on the advantage of getting coverage on "three different devices" (when we made it clear that we were only purchasing 1). I can only assume that, because he didn't know the answer to the question we asked, he thought that he could somehow convince us to spend the extra money on a service plan that we were not interested in. After a short discussion with my husband, when finally getting the answer to the only question we asked, we decided that we didn't want to make the purchase tonight, or maybe ever, because this young man was so offensive with his blatant disrespect to us as customers by ripping papers out of my hand and insisting that we needed coverage that wasn't asked about. We have never had an experience like that at this store so we will likely go back, but I will never ask this young man a question again and I hope he, and his supervisors, understand the negative impact that...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dealing with Geek Squad at Best Buy, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of infuriating. Not only did they make me wait past my appointment time, but the lackadaisical attitude of the staff left me utterly frustrated.
Upon entering the store, I noticed several Geek Squad employees standing around in the back, seemingly oblivious to the fact that I had a scheduled appointment. It was as if my time meant nothing to them. One individual, a larger white woman with glasses, wasted even more of my precious time by bombarding me with irrelevant questions instead of simply informing me that they did not have the replacement I needed. It was a blatant display of incompetence and a complete disregard for customer satisfaction.
To make matters worse, the larger Hispanic male, who was supposed to be attending to appointments, was also just standing idly by. Out of the five Geek Squad workers present, only one was actually doing any work. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of professionalism and a blatant disregard for the customers who depend on their services.
Moreover, I strongly advise against purchasing Apple products from Best Buy. My experience with their customer service has been consistently disappointing. I purchased both my phone and Apple Care from this particular location, only to be let down time and time again. On my first visit, they didn't even have the necessary screen replacement for a simple cracked screen. And now, on my recent visit, they failed to provide me with a replacement device. It is clear that they lack the necessary inventory to adequately serve their customers.
Not only did Geek Squad and Best Buy waste my time, but their staff members also exhibited a rude and unhelpful demeanor. It is evident that their priority lies in making sales rather than providing quality service. I will never again purchase an Apple product from Best Buy or utilize the services of Geek Squad. They have proven themselves to be unreliable, unprofessional, and completely devoid of any semblance of customer care.
Save yourself the frustration and disappointment, and take your business elsewhere. Geek Squad and Best Buy have failed to meet even the most basic expectations, and I strongly discourage anyone from relying on...
