Red Racks was okay. But there's one thing that I do not like about them which is that they will pull apart something that is supposed to be sold together like for instance: a wallet that's supposed to be sold with a purse or a set of pans that are being sold separately instead of in a set. I don't like that because it makes them look greedy. Having said that I do understand that it said just Disabled American Veterans that are benefiting from at least some of the proceeds but still. Doesn't make it right. They are also high priced compared to other thrift stores.
Part 2: they moved the Red Racks on 23rd and 291 to across the street so technically you can say it's still at 23rd and 291 but across the street in the chain of shopping centers. Anyway, when they moved it, they moved it into a SMALLER location and took out selling furniture! I hate that they did that. This is the one that's closest to me but I guess I'll start going to the one in Lee's Summit. Idk what the point in that was, except I heard the owner of Red Racks owns that other location but so what? They could have sold it and bought a bigger location. Why downsize? Not happy at all. Got these for my...
Read moreI walked in last night with my partner and our 3 kids (2 in the cart, all of them were calm and not being loud) and before we even had the door all the way open someone shouted “we close in 15 minutes.” Not “hello please be aware we close in 15 minutes” but just shouted at us and didn’t even make eye contact. We said okay since we were just in there to look for a couple of shirts for myself and headed to the clothes. Five minutes later the main lights in the store turned off for about 20 seconds which we thought was due to the bad weather, but then it happened again five minutes later. The second time they were off, they were off long enough for us to walk from the back of the store to the front and decide it wasn’t worth it to purchase the clothes we found for my son if they wanted us out so bad. So we took the kids out of the cart and set the clothes down and walked out. The cashier then asked my boyfriend if we were stealing and he told them no and left. I find it very telling that they were chatting with the white customers asking them how their day was, etc. Have been coming here for several years, but doubt we will return after how we were...
Read moreVery disappointed in the high prices there.
I understand it's for DAV - but I have been to other DAV Thrift stores and the prices were quite reasonable so I was able to purchase some items.
It was quite cramped in there. Very dusty. The kitchen wares area was a mess. ! Aisles around the store are very narrow. I didn't even get but half way through and had to just leave.
I don't understand the prices though. I mean I stopped by the Union Thrift (the money they make goes to the Union Mission in KCMO) across the state line on Shawnee Mission Prky, much better prices, huge selection of items, clean, ...etc
People on fixed incomes can't shop there unless it's 50 - 75% lower in price.
Suggestion: Fix your prices and you could move even MORE stuff out of there much faster. Making money is all about moving something, right. Good business sense. ;)
Have a...
