Gold Lion Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Independence

Gold Lion was once my families, favorite delivery, Chinese location near our home. After my most recent experience, I will never be getting food from there again. about a month ago we ordered dinner from there are normal favorites one of which include shrimp fried rice, when receiving our order, they messed up that order. I called and spoke to the lady who takes orders and she said go ahead and eat what we sent and the next time you order, we will give it to you for free. I was fine with that response and went on with my day. A couple weeks later we ordered food again she remembered me and we got the shrimp fried rice for free. I paid for my other items, tipped the driver and enjoyed our dinner. Last night I called to order my family dinner, and the woman taking the order said they would no longer deliver to me because I complained about my order a month ago. I was shocked considering they had already delivered to me again and as far as I’m concerned made it right-I had no idea she would now ban me from ever ordering there again. I tried to talk to her about how I had no issues with them as they had resolved the one problem I had. She said no, you go to King Wok-they are closer to your home anyway. And she hung up. I tried to call back and as soon as she heard my voice she hung up on me again. I don’t know what scenario this business owner sees that this is a professional way to handle a customer but she has lost me and anyone else I can spread the word to. Gold Lion is my go to and forever will be! So let me tell you some of my favorite things about this restaurant and the people that own it:

•Their food is always fresh, hot, and delicious •Their egg drop soup has gotten me through many, many colds •My dad used to buy tins of Christmas cookies to deliver to local businesses that he was a regular at and the libraries and one year he brought them a tin of Christmas cookies and the lady was so shocked and surprised that she hugged him - next time he visited for take out she had a Christmas present for him with delicious Asian goodies •I wish I could remember the first day I went there but we’ve been going forever and they always ask how school is, if I’ve been back to China yet, or how work is •They told me my parents were lucky to adopt me •Every interaction has been nothing but positive and has helped heal so many complex feelings I’ve felt over the years about being adopted and not knowing my biological family •The delivery person is always kind and says hi to Mabel (our family cat) •Best. Eggrolls ever. •Their chicken teriyaki, shrimp fried rice, and egg foo young truly is the way to my heart •They ask about my dad each time I pick up an order for him

I don't know what happened I use to be able to eat their shrimp fried rice and I still love it.. But a few years back something changed I ate their shrimp fried rice twice and it made me sick as a dog.. I had so much gas build up in my stomach it hurt really bad.. It felt like someone had an air pump pumping my stomach and it made my bladder hurt to.. I almost though I had to go to the emergency room but I didn't I just took some gas medicine for about a few days.. But that was the most terrifying experience I ever went through.. But im not sure if it was food poisoning or they used old food or didn't wash their cooking tools and pots and pans.. I still can't eat there but I do miss them they were so nice to me and I never had to wait for ever to get my order.. But I think it had something to do with the eggs because I always had a hard time with eggs.. I'm not blaming them its just I can't eat eggs like I use to.. So I just found out that its the eggs for sure I ate at the China king shrimp fried rice with no eggs and I was just fine.. I love eggs but they don't love me.. I will always love the people at golden lion they are so sweet...
