7 Brew Coffee — Restaurant in Independence

When made well, 7 Brew has some of the best coffee around town.

Unfortunately, consistency is a fairly big problem with this location. I normally order a hot blondie, while my partner orders an iced sweet & salty half EXTRA sweet. I can not count the amount of times this has been interpreted as half sweet. I went today, 10/5/24 ordering these exact drinks and the barista came to my car and said “hot blondie and iced half-sweet sweet and salty.” I said “Is that half-sweet or half extra sweet?” She went back to the order screens, confirmed it was half extra sweet and I drove off. I should’ve tasted it because it was half sweet. I understand the possible confusion in wording, but I’ve ordered it simply as “extra sweet” many times before and came home to it tasting like nothing.

I fear that when the store gets pretty busy, the employees have to focus on speed and efficiency and not accuracy. What does it matter to get 20 people through a line in 10 minutes if 5 people’s orders are incorrect? Also a minor complaint, but my goodness some people do not understand what “light ice” is. Half the time it IS light ice, other times the ice is nearly busting out the cup because it’s so full.

We really love the coffee here, when it’s made how we order it, but lately it feels like a coin toss on whether it’s going to be...

May update: Manager Bailey is doing amazing. Got a great drink suggestion from Colby this morning to try the banana bread mocha, so I drove back around and ordered it. She was right! Thanks, Colby, for makong my morning great!

April update 2: I left too many crew members out in my last review. However, I wanted to give a shout out to Dillon for being awesome, too! He is always providing amazing service and makes sure I am taken care of. Cheers Dillon!

Update April 2025: I wanted to give a shout out to the excellent crew at this store! Crew members like Nicole, Josie, Alexander remember my order and take the time to make sure I feel valued as a customer.

Over 500 visits, and I probably need an intervention. The crew always seems to deliver a great experience along with a great beverage. The prices are reasonable, and the selection allows you to try new things whenever you get adventurous. It is nice when they recognize you and treat you as a friend rather than a nameless customer. I enjoy getting a House Blend (Americano) with three heavy cream, as it is sugar free while full of creamy coffee flavor.

This review is for the Independence, MO store only. If this is your first time at a 7Brew and you go to this one, you will never go back. The customer service is absolutely horrible. When we went there was an employee going through the drive thru to get a drink and that’s the only person that mattered. There were only two people taking orders. Not sure what the gentleman in Lane 2 was actually doing but the girl in Lane 1 literally followed the fellow employees car. There was probably 4 or so cars in line that had not been talked to. 7Brew is known for their fast service and great product. No fast service at this location. Finally took my order and after a new girl brought out half of my order I asked her for the other half and she acted like I was lying. Checked the iPad and saw that I was missing something and huffed and puffed and went in to get it. She was absolutely rude. I will never go back to this location. EVER!! Like I said, if you’ve never been before then avoid this location....
