USA Grocers Food Stores — Local services in Indian Rocks Beach

Very rarely write reviews but somewhat taken back by my experience on the last day of a fantastic vacation from UK. Ive had to use this store twice whilst staying at Indian Rocks. The first time I put the rudeness and grumpiness of the server (presume owner) down to experience. On that occasion it was more his begrudging attitude and indifference and thankfully I only went in for some over priced bread. However today I popped in to use the external vac machine to tidy up the rental car. The machine notice said quarters only and required a dollar fifty's worth hence six quarters. I duly popped them in and nothing happened. Queue entering the store to explain to the same chap I had encountered recently. Queue being asked if I had put enough in and I politely confirmed yes, six quarters. He didnt look happy at all, didnt apologise for my inconvenience and certainly didnt seem to be giving me the benefit of the doubt. So I helpfully posited that when I got to the machine the generator was running and perhaps the previous customer had used the tyre inflator before I arrived and in some way this meant my putting money in prematurely had confused it. Either way it's only a dollar fifty and I still had change which I tried to point out - but being a Brit I guess it's the principle and I didnt want to stuff the rest of my change in for it to happen twice. Anyhow despite his utter lack of acknowledgement he did start shuffling in the till for change and I took this as progress of sorts. I followed the charmer outside who put 6 more coins in (by the way the generator noise had stopped) and the vac turned on. Bearing in mind it has a relatively short 4 minute timer he then decides to look at me the way you might stare down a modern day Dick Turpin (historic highway robber) announcing in a less than friendly manner 'I WORK HERE 18 HRS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK I KNOW THE MACHINE NOTHING'S WRONG WITH IT'. Being a visitor to the USA and on my last day I decided not to challenge the comment, and he by then turned his back, chuntered some other words of support and walked away having used a good 30 seconds of my valuable vac time ! As a 52 year old Dad of 3 kids and a retired public servant of 31 years service being all but accused of being a liar at best and a thief at worst - for the sake of a dollar and 50 cents - is frankly disgraceful. I hope you do read this and take the feedback on board as your personal manner is not only abrupt but frankly intimidating. Ive got broad shoulders but a younger or more vulnerable person would have been genuinely upset by that experience. All over a dollar fifty and for the record check your CCTV you havent lost a penny from me today, but when we return to this lovely part of the world you wont get anything...
