We went last night after catching the sunset at the beach. The ice cream was really good but the 1 star is for the staff, one in particular. As soon as we got in line, I noticed how she kept looking at us despite the fact that the store was very busy. It was like she couldn't focus or work distracted by us, or maybe just me. As if she was watching if we were going to take something. But that wasn't all, the best part was when she asked if we were with a group, I replied no. She then said to close the door because it messed with the ice cream. Ok, legit. Got it. But then, I stood and waited to see.if she asked any other people who stood on line holding the door open. And guess what? Not a single one. While I sat and enjoyed my cone on the bench outside, more people arrived who held the door open for long periods of time.( way shorter than we did for sure) so I went back in to stand there and see if she asked anyone else to shut door. Sure enough, she did not. I'm sure she knows exactly who I am cause I was looking at her dead in the face..I wanted to ask her why she didn't ask anyone else except us. Now, I am the last person to play the race card but this Incident screamed of it. I won't mention what I am, but I will say we were the only ones in the whole time we were there that were different. This employee will probably know exactly who I am and will remember how uncomfortable she felt due to her own prejudices. I was only visiting for the day.but I wish I could go back after she reads this. So if you are not what the majority of their clientele are expect to be made to feel uncomfortable and called out on it. Other than that, great ice cream....
Read moreIRB Creamery (formerly Pinky's) has a superb banana split. I had it made with their toasted coconut ice cream, hot fudge, marshmallow cream and caramel topped with peanuts, whipped cream and a cherry. This is not your typical banana split. This was so much more. The toasted coconut ice cream I've never had before and it was so delicious a coconutty (if that even a word) and bring mixed with hot fudge, marshmallow cream and caramel....just wow. The banana was just ripe enough. Not overly ripe where it was really sweet and not underripe.
They put it in a styrofoam cup so it wouldn't melt too fast. They do have the regular banana split tub containers but it doesn't have a resealable lid so they recommended the cup which turned out perfect. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner (she was serving the ice cream) and she was such a pleasant person to talk to while she made the ice cream for my family. Highly recommend! Note: my banana split melted just enough that a picture would have been an injustice! But my stomach was...
Read moreCAREFUL! Addictive! 6 STAR!!! Service and product! We pulled in a few mins after they closed but as they were locking the door the guy noticed us pulling into the parking lot and came and waved us in. He said, “no way I’m letting you all drive down here and then shutting it down on you. Get in here!”. We go inside and it looks like Willie Wonka’s Factory WITH ice cream. This place has it all, new school candy, old school candy, old school flavor soda, it’s THE vibe. If you like almond joy candy bars…then get the Almond Joy ice cream! It-is-phenomenal. They have the best ice cream shop in this area, most likely this state since The Frieze went out in South Beach. Don’t waste your time at the other corner shop with 70 flavors or so, the flavors are old and gooey. Oh! Pick up and old school (RC COLA) pop to take home with you and put it in the fridge for the beach the next day. You’ll be so fresh and cool you’ll be ready to take on Poseidon, if necessary. Enjoy ya trip...
