I wasn’t thrilled with my experience at this flower shop. Upon entering, the shop had an odd smell of paraphernalia and spray paint, and the staff seemed preoccupied, making it feel like I was interrupting rather than being welcomed. It took several steps inside before anyone acknowledged me, and even then, it felt awkward, as if my presence was unexpected. I was wondering if I was even actually “welcome” or was this a shop for certain “people”. I’ve heard of things like this happening in small towns but experiencing it in 2024 is still surreal. It felt as though there was an underlying bias or unease around individuals who didn’t fit a particular profile. The attitude felt closed off or lacking in warmth toward those outside a specific demographic. You can read between the lines at this point. Anyway, it was dark, dimly lit and unwelcoming in this place. The outside was already dark and rundown and the inside reflected the same; lights were off in the front and nothing was cohesive. Reluctantly, I still gave it a shot.
I asked for a bouquet with roses and lilies, and orchids, if available, for my mother, for her birthday, pointing to fresh flowers in the fridge. I told her I would allow her to put that together while I went out to the bank. I had to step out to get cash since they don’t accept Apple Pay, and when I returned, the bouquet prepared was disappointing. It lacked any sense of fullness or artistry, more like something hastily thrown together. The bouquet included daisies and filler flowers rather than the roses and lilies I’d requested, and the ribbon and vase were completely off. It just didn’t reflect the quality or care I’d expect for something honoring my mother. She said the bouquets started at $50 and I told her that was fine and to use her expertise to make something special but that mark was definitely missed.
After asking for a remake, the staff seemed aggravated, and despite my clear requests, the second attempt was still lackluster. She repeated that the bouquet was already $50 like as if that was paining her to add more flowers because of the price but I wasn’t concerned by the price or the budget she had in her head because it wasn’t my budget and I just wanted something worth whatever the price was. The cost made no difference.
I pointed to an arrangement from their website, hoping for a similar look, but even then, it felt like I was asking too much. Eventually, they added some roses and lilies, but the bouquet still looked a little lopsided and uninspired. In the end, I paid about $53, and while my mother appreciated the bouquet, the overall experience left me feeling like I’d forced them into doing their job.
This shop may create nice arrangements for “others”, but my experience was far from satisfying. I don’t mind spending for quality, but it felt like the budget was an issue for them, not me. Overall, I wouldn’t return here; it seemed like too much effort on my part to get something beautiful and thoughtfully prepared. I will go back to Harris Teeter for creative control, just for them to arrange it thoughtfully with ribbon and bow for the same price and way more flowers or to Mint Hill Flower Market. Her prices are a little higher but she is attentive, her store is bright and welcoming as is she and her staff and she is quite knowledgeable and neighborly.
Attached is what I paid $53 for. You can count the actual flowers. I asked for a box and she gave me an Amazon box to place the flowers in, nothing to...
Read moreMy fiancé ordered me flowers for Valentines Day. Roses and Daisies. My favorite combo. I received tiny roses along side big daisies in a vase that was too tall. The flowers had been cut too short and even though I watered it, they fell out and or died one day later. I received another bouquet as an apology I suppose with a note stating, "water daily". Ya think? I did water those daily because they too, were cut too short, even though the greenery was shoved in the bottom of the vase and the flowers were broken when delivered. I feel like they are using scraps in the arrangements. I'm just so disappointed. I appreciate that they tried to make it right but the water daily comment kind of did it for me.
I appreciate the feed back. I do understand how being ordered from the wire service could be misleading, however, he ordered the largest and most expensive bouquet for that arrangement. What I received was definitely not that and the vase is at least 12" H. The only reason he didn't call directly was because we are new to the area and didn't know what florist would do the nicest job. I guess direct callers get better service than...
Read moreMy son picked up his prom date’s corsage and his boutonnière that I ordered and the order must have been wrong. The ribbon did not match the dress even close. I had showed pictures and it was nothing we had discussed. The flowers were also in a plastic bag rather than a clam case. That was a first. I tried to call the store immediately to notify the error but they had closed and I never received a response back from my voicemail...not even the following week. They could care less. Since they were paid in advance I guess they could care less whether or not they had a satisfied customer. I ran to different stores buying ribbon and trying to fix myself and made everything worse. I had to buy new at Harris Teeter. There’s looked better anyway and their customer service was on point. Harris Teeter to the rescue and they were also more affordable. What a waste of money Joann’s was! I would have never written a review if I would have received a phone call back at least acknowledging. It’s now Friday and prom was...
