On January 15th, 2022, my family and I visited Sonic # 4877 in Indian Trail, NC. We had a large order and a woman who was not in uniform came and literally slammed it down on the table in the common patio area where my husband and daughter were sitting and said, "This is heavy." She said nothing else. My husband gave us the food in the car and proceeded to have a conversation with my daughter in the common patio area until he realized we had no napkins. He went to the door and requested napkins to which the only person who was inside the building in a Sonic uniform rolled his eyes and continued eating his food over top of the food to be handed out to customers. Finally, an older female appeared and provided napkins. My husband returns to his spot on the patio, and he had an unlit cigar in his hand. Suddenly, another person, a large man this time also not in uniform, steps out from inside the Sonic and yells at my husband to put his cigar out. My husband shows the man not in uniform that it is not lit. They exchanged words and the man goes back into the Sonic only to reappear 2 minutes later with the woman who is also not in uniform, and they both berate my husband about his unlit cigar and threaten to make him leave the patio. The woman states that she has emphysema, and his UNLIT cigar is making it act up. My husband at this point states he is merely having a talk with his daughter, there is no one else on the patio, there is a large ashtray behind the man yelling at my husband, and this feels very obviously like harassment. The man and woman both state they are going to call the authorities if we do not leave. We leave the establishment and I immediately call back to gather Sonic's corporate number as well as the names of the two people not in uniform who harassed my husband and terrified my children. The person on the line in the Sonic stated that he was the general manager of the Sonic, and the female was his assistant and as such he did not have to provide either one of their names as they were not considered "employees." He and I argued about the definition of an employee for far longer than was necessary but in the end, he would not provide either of their names. He stated to me that I was being disrespectful, and I reminded him of the display we had just witnessed and how disrespectful he was to my husband and child. I hung up the call and later made a complaint via the Sonic website about our treatment. Much to my surprise and dismay, I receive a phone call from this very offensive "general manager" today threatening my husband and I with further "action" because I made a complaint. So, it absolutely baffles me that Sonic breached my confidentiality and provided this man, whose name I still do not know, with my PHONE NUMBER so that he could call and continue to harass and threaten my family and I. He stated that any and all complaints for this location go directly to him so it wouldn't help submitting another. That part remains to be seen. But legal action is absolutely warranted and underway for providing my private information to the VERY person the complaint was about!

Sunday (8/14) @ 4:10, my husband and I stopped into the Sonic, Indian Trail. We were in the line at the drive-thru with two cars in front of us. When it was our turn to order, we were asked to wait. We did; about 10 minutes later we were asked for our order; which we placed. However, the order was not repeated back to us nor a total of our order given. We waited at the drive-thru for someone to respond to which we received none. Another car pulled up behind us and left. About 20 minutes later, I went inside using the employee entrance to ask if our order had been received. The man (dark hair and mustache) looked at his female counterpart. They said they had been taking orders; she mumbled that the drive-thru speaker was broken. I asked if we needed to pull around to the drive-in. Both of them again looked at one another. I asked if they wanted our business. The man responded that they actually don’t want my business. We pulled around to the drive-in to place our order. The female was outside with another customer and employee. She saw us. My husband pushed the order button; it flashed. However our order was not taken. We left and we will not return to Sonic, Indian Trail again. I have told this incident to friends, who have had similar experiences at this location. I feel badly for this location owner to have employees who do not care if a customer returns or not.

I've gone to this place a few times. If you're getting the core standard Chilly Cheese Coney and Tots with a Drink, it's generally pretty good. Very few times have I had a bad coney. Order anything else, and you might be in for a rude awakening. I went last night to go pick up some food and it was the absolute worst experience I have ever gotten. I ordered: 1. Three Route 44 Limeades that did not have any fruit inside of the drinks and tasted like pure carbonated water. No flavoring outside of the one lime that was in the drink. It was disgusting. 2. Ultimate Breakfast Burrito. It came with no sauce and no sausage. Was a pitiful little burrito. 3. I ordered a Sausage Egg and Cheese Brioche sandwich to only receive a Burger Patty with Bacon on top. This location usually gets small things incorrect like customizations and I'm surprised this place is still in business. Stalls are always broken and this place just needs to be shut down already. Luckily support has already refunded my money, but at first they were only willing to give me a $5 gift card and coupon for a Cheeseburger which would equate to $9 when I spent at least $17. Sad to see this place has drastically declined and continues to do so. I'd stick to your Conies, Tots, and Drinks everything else is pretty bland, poor portions, and poorly executed by the staff.

Must be the absolute worst Sonic in the CLT area. So many times we have gone, because we are Sonic fans, so many times we left with either no food, wrong food, or frustration. So poorly managed and run. We’ve decided to just abandon this location.

Update 9/5/22:

Beware of this location! I complained several weeks ago and then made a complaint to corporate(as you see in the comments below was suggested), they assured me they would address this location. So, tonight we thought we’d try again. We have family in town and headed to Sonic for ice cream. We arrived and were told only drive through orders. So we went to drive through line, the two cars in front of us waited 15 mins and left. So, we drove to the order station. Waited… waited … nothing. So we went back to a stall. Pressed the red button and the girl on the intercom screamed at us and said “drive through only”!! Never been yelled at in any restaurant by an employee. So, we went back to drive thru. Waited for 10 more mins… zero cars at this restaurant btw. My wife finally called. They said they were to busy to take orders and hung up on my wife. I know this sounds ridic, but this has been the culture of this Sonic for a couple years. We officially give up on this Sonic. Don’t waste your time.

11-05- on our way back from a restaurant we decided to try again, just slushies after an awesome bbq meal a couple miles away. Hate to be a broken record. We pulled up to drive through, no one there. Waited 5 minutes and inevitably 8 minutes. Only 2 cars in the parking lot. Still nothing. I finally called the store and the manager informed me there were 4 orders ahead of me and it would be a significant wait and that’s why they did not respond to me in the drive through. You really can’t make this...

My children, my parents, and I went to the Indian trail location. We had ordered our food and my dad had ordered the tater tots with chili and cheese. When he received his order there was barely any chili or cheese He asked the waitress if he could have a little bit more chilli. She was very polite took his food and went in. All of a sudden a gentleman comes out slams the order on the table and made the statement that was the amount of chili that was supposed to be on the tater tots. A few moments later he came out with another gentleman I asked him if he was a manager he said yes. I tried to talk to him and let him know that that was not necessary for him to act like that to elderly customers let alone anyone else I have been in the customer service industry and a general manager for 18 years. It would be as simple as to put a little bit more chili on the tater tots for the customer without making a statement and acting the way he did. He started yelling at me and I looked at the other gentleman as he walked up and I asked him if he was the GM he said yes . I try to talk to the GM as I was talking to him The manager started yelling at us cussing and being belligerent. I told the manager that I did not want to speak to him any longer that I was speaking to his GM. He walked away stating that he was going to call his people to handle the situation and proceeded to walk and open his trunk. The GM was trying to calm the situation down with him but he continued to be belligerent and ignorant. . I would assume that Sonic would not want people like this working for...
