Labeled as one star to get everyone's attention. The Southport Meijer is (was?) my go to grocery store, this does not represent the helpful employees whom I've spoken to over the years or the variety of quality groceries/items at this location.
I'm leaving a one star today because I had a horrible experience upon leaving this location yesterday... Make sure you have all your receipts, or connect all your transactions to mPerfs. Or else you will be wrongfully accused and possibly charged with shoplifting.
I'm so glad I connect my checkouts to mPerks (by doing this it saves my receipt). The dude in charge of loss control sucks at his job. He said he had video of me shoplifting, but for some reason couldn't show me the video? Weird. He said he printed out my receipt and couldn't find a singular $10 item on it he thought he saw me steal (after spending almost $300 this day mind you). Strange. He never treated me like I was innocent, I was guilty off the bat... power trip much?
Dude just tells me an item isn't on the receipt. I have to ask for him to prove it to me, the receipt he has in fact doesn't have the item on it but he did also mention the printer cut off the bottom... interesting.
I get told I'm being put in the Meijer shoplifter system. He asks for my ID for my info, says if I refuse he will take my info anyway. He assured me a print out copy won't be made, it goes straight into the internal system...
Well y'all... I finally leave and get to my car... things still aren't sitting right with me. I know I didn't shoplift... LIGHT BULB... checked my mPerks, went to past in store orders. DING DING DING. THERE IT IS! PROOF! So I go back in and show him. He said it's strange he didn't see it. No man, I think you're just really bad at your job in a number of ways. And really good at wasting peoples time and causing harm.
Oh what's that I see on his desk when I go back into his office? A PRINTED COPY OF MY ID?! Which I specifically asked if it would be printed out and he said no. I don't want my info just chillin on some wanna be cops desk. So he's also a liar in a number of ways too. I tell him to shred it, he does so by hand lol okay guy. Then I ask to watch as he deleted by profile on their internal profiling system of who they accuse/falsely accuse of shoplifting. As I left I said "so since I paid for this can I have them back" and walked out with my menstrual pads.
Long story short. Keep your receipt. There is a wannabe narc you have to prove your innocence to. I'll think twice before shopping at this...
Read moreI don't know why but I f'ing love this Meijer. I mean, I guess I know why.
They still use door greeters. Or whatever they're called. So, while I can be antisocial, the folks at the doors are always (usually) cheerful and while I don't see her anymore, there was this super nice lady with an oxygen tank who would help you put your cart back. I know at the Meijer on the eastside they have a really loud guy that's all like 'WELCOME TO MEIJER' and his voice can be heard from Greenfield, but I mean hey, he just really wants to welcome you. You're family to him, and you should feel bad for disapproving. Shame. They got a bunch of stuff. They even still sell fish. Walmart stopped selling fish a while ago. At least most of the ones I go to did. And this isn't the first time I'll make a comparison to Walmart. But 9/10 times if you want it, Meijer probably has it. Except the BaconWave. Gotta go to Walmart for that. Coupons and MPerks. Well, I know this isn't specific to this location, but I always want to use em here. Lots of good savings. I'm okay exchanging my privacy for savings, in this instance. Let's face it, for most of us, our privacy is long gone. Parking. If you're willing to walk around the side of the store, the parking on the west side lot is always really empty. Same way on the eastside. Selection. I guess I covered this already? But specifically grocery. You can get pretty much everything you need here. Nice staff. Like I said, the greeters are good. But the checkout staff are friendly too. Checkout machines. I have never in my life used a cashier at Meijer. No Joke, I use the self-check things. And these are calibrated properly, unlike Kroger's or Walmarts. "Place item in bagging area". Okay...places item "UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA. A CASHIER HAS BEEN ALERTED TO ASSIST YOU". Oh lord... BUT not at Meijer!
Negatives Where did your store brand of wheat thins go Meijer? Rich people Wheat Thins are expensive. Come onnnnn. Why is there always a stock cart just sitting in front of the Veggie chips if I'm in the store before 9am or after 6pm? Why. Every time. They don't carry thin-sliced boneless chicken breasts. If I want em, I gotta go to Kroger. The softlines (clothes) aren't really worth the look, IMO. The 'best selection of clothes' crown is still worn by Target. Good stuff.
Anyways, hope to see you all there soon....
Read moreThis Meijer really sucks, I purchased a air bed like 3 weeks ago well it constantly kept loosing air so i went to exchange it, I call before i went up there and asked about there policy and the lady said she would take great care of me since i misplaced my recipient and the air beds have a 90 policy but all i wanted was to exchange due to family coming into town. When we first walked up to the service desk we told The lady which her name was Cathy that we spoke to someone around 330 that day and she said we wouldn't have any issue just to exchange, every person was rude there besides the one guy that helped resole our issue after i had to call CORPORATE. Once we went back and got the new bed to exchange it we then walked back up the the same lady Cathy and she said do you have a recipient we then repeated and said no and said everything over again. She then said "Didn't you just come in here and exchange this air bed" I said no it wasn't me she then stated rudely "well you must have a twin" I asked for a manager because they were all giving me hell back there. The manager that came up Her name was Jennifer and started telling me they cant do anything without a recipient i said well i talked to someone around 330 and they didn't tell me there name, She was VERY RUDE... I will never shop with this Meijer AGAIN. I had to literally call corporate for all this, and corporate said there should be any issue exchanging without a recipient but it would be a different story if we was trying to get our money back. But we wasn't. The guy at the end did take great care of this. BUT AGAIN I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. I then went to the Meijer on Washington street and they also told me I should of had no issue exchanging the air mattress its not like i...
