I have never had a bad experience shopping at any Ollie's store. I consider it my go-to for home goods so I do not end paying higher prices elsewhere. However, my experience yesterday was none like I had ever had before here and the only reason why I don't want to give a 1 star review is because I do enjoy shopping at low prices. I'll start from the beginning. I was checking out the health and hygiene aisle and there was some scattered candy on the floor like someone had opened a bag and it spilled. No big deal to me, I just walked around it and so did everyone else. An employee walks down the aisle and immediately starts going off about the candy and saying how they cannot wait to clock out and be done. Okay, employees have the right to be mad about messes.... They then go off and start practically yelling racial profanity about how they wish certain groups of people as they said with "food stamps" wouldn't shop in their store. I could not believe my ears, so I immediately walk away. Then, I walked into the kitchen aisles to look for some baking dishes and there was some commotion with some other shoppers and their kids. I think nothing of it and go about my business. A group of employees walks by and starts yelling about how if they were not wanting their upcoming raise, they would personally smack and beat these kids, calling them every racial slur in the book that they could. The employees started laughing about it. I decide to go put some of my items back so I could check out all the faster and get out of the store quicker. As I'm putting something back, I hear one employee tell another one to "just switch the price tags" and no one will notice at the checkout. When I let the manager know of what I heard and saw, he told me there was nothing he could do because I had left the store already and did not see name tags. Even if I had left the store, it feels a little unfair given the circumstances to brush off the situations. Forget the rest of us being uncomfortable. Think about good quality customer service and the image portrayed by this group...
Read moreI wish there was a way to give lower reviews than one star. I stood in line for 20 minutes as the male cashier checked out one individual. I do not know how much slower he could have worked as he rang up one item then stopped, “do you have a rewards card?”. One item, “Do you want to sign up for it?” One item, tries to bag up a lamp shade... I saw at least three employees standing around not doing a thing. The phone for the store rings and the same cashier answers the phone and begins a full-blown conversation about outdoor chairs, stopping him from checking anything else out. At this point we had approximately nine people in line. Finally one girl lollygags her way to a register, looking like someone shot her dog and simply allows people who are in the back of the line to start going first. Like I said, after approximately 20 minutes I finally put my items down and left the store. The products here are great and the idea of the store is fantastic, but I would rather pay full price for any item in there than deal with the incompetent employees. With that said, I’m off to Walmart and I will advise others to...
Read moreOllies is my place for bargain shopping and good music. Not only do I find what I'm looking for, I find so much more and have fun doing it. The overhead music is the best, Sometimes I feel like grabbing a dance partner. The employees are fantastic, friendly and helpful, if you're having a bad day try hanging out at Ollies, it can cheer you up, I know this as FACT.
True story, I would visit my son in Indy for many years and before I'd go to his home sometimes I'd stop at Ollies and again on my way home. I have friends and family back home that have visited with me and I have taken them to Ollies and they are still raving about products like, books, seasonings, appliances etc. The prices are amazing. I even used Ollies to have prizes for my church conference. Now I live in Indy 2mins. away. Yay 🙌!!!!!
Sorry for being so wordy, believe it or not I don't like shopping, but OLLIES...
