Rob processed my exchange reluctantly. Accused me of returning the boots, saying I fell. Returned them due to a broken eyelet. They were hiking boots, of course they arent gonna look perfect. Ridiculous for him to "I have a hard time believing" that damage on the RT heel was due to the way I walk, accusing me of falling. Stupid ridiculous. Super disappointed that I was treated this way.
Update: REI reached out in February of 2020 and apologized after receiving my complaint. Brent Gentry said he would send me a gift card for my troubles. Gift card never came. I am guessing it must have pocketed, because the gift card never came. The only reason I remembered is that I went through old emails.
Update 8/18: Man these people do not give hoot about customers. I still never heard anything back about the missing gift card they said that they would send me because they were in the wrong about accusing me about the Sportiva boots. I came in recently and spent over a thousand dollars on stuff Period Two bras that I had bought were in the clearance section but I didn't notice that they didn't ring up clearance price until I got home. I came back and asked about the pricing on the bras because they were all in the clearance section. It wasn't one or two pieces it was a bunch of the stuff. They didn't want to make it right and honor any clearance price at all. So I returned at least $300 worth of stuff that I bought. They really wanted to nitpick about something that was their fault. They can't have my business then. This was your third strike. Go literally ANYWHERE else. If it's not on clearance or on sale/outlet then you're paying way too much. I've worked retail for 20 years in management. This is not how you get customers to come back. I've got half a mind to return it all. You obviously don't want my business, why should I even spend the remaining $700.
I uploaded the photo. They are on the same bar as the clearance sign. The cashier looked up the pricing info and was just like nah, not on clearance. Spent the last of my rewards. I won't be back to buy anything else from...
Read moreWednesday will be my son’s 14th birthday. I knew that the Kammok Firebelly was the gift I needed. Yesterday, I went to the REI in Indy, only to find out that the last one had just sold. Ordering on-line would have caused the gift to arrive too late. But, the staff person that I was speaking with, KC, explained that he had just bought one the day before and hadn’t even removed the tags yet. He offered that if I came back to the store the next day, he’d bring it back and return it so that I could buy it for my son. I couldn’t believe such kindness! I accepted his offer.
Today, I returned to the store and KC saved the day. Not only did he return the under quilt that I needed for the perfect gift, but he gave me a birthday card for my son, signed by many of the staff at the store. Inside the card was a gift card for my son that will allow him to become an REI member, on the house. I’ve been a member of the coop for 10 years, and now we’ll sign my boy up. Couldn’t be happier to do it.
KC went more than above and beyond, and I’m a grateful dad! I can’t wait to tell this story to my son on his birthday when I give him his gift. Thanks for such a wonderful experience at REI. KC, next time I bring in my son, we’ll look for you. Thanks for...
Read moreWords cannot describe how long I have been waiting for REI to come to Indiana. I am bubbling over with gratitude!!!!!! This is such a phenomenal store and I would have clawed my eyes out if I had to gaze upon the construction of one more Dick's Sporting Goods store. I ALWAYS support local stores when they are available (such as The Element in Terre Haute, IN). However, REI as a company has such a great business model. I will NEVER set foot again in a box shaped super sporting Goods store called Dicks or Gander Mountain in in the state of Indiana ever again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ACKNOWLEDGING INDIANA's EXISTENCE!! I love you guys!!!
Love, the Girl who lives in Northernish Indiana (currently...) Mary Fuson-Stearley
PS: SERIOUSLY BECOME A COOP MEMBER IT PAYS FOR ITSELF!!
PPS: There is a great rogue climbing community in Southern Indiana and even Terre Haute. Go IU!! (After all, the limestone government buildings of Washington DC come from the womb of Indiana herself. There is some lovely little rocks to play on in the good old Bedford area ;) And yes, to make a long post longer I am a Terre...
