My husband and I ordered a glider and a crib from Play Pen. We were very impressed with the quality of the items they carry, but you do pay extra for that quality. Our total was nearly $1400 for the crib and glider. Both the crib and the glider had to be ordered. We were promised the glider in 4-6 weeks, and the crib in 8-10 weeks. The glider came in as expected, and I was very pleased with it. However, it took 13 weeks for my crib to come in. After 10 weeks, I started calling the store to ask where my crib was. I was never given any explanation other than, "We'll call you when it ships." Well, I called once or twice a week checking on it, and each time the ladies answering the phone seemed more and more annoyed with me. Finally my crib was promised to me on a Thursday, and that as soon as it came in I would receive a phone call. Play Pen closes at 6, so my husband and I both made arrangements to get off work a little early that day so we could go by and get the crib. By 4:30, I still hadn't heard from anyone, so I called, and the lady that answered told me that they had received a shipment but that no one had had time to see what was on it, and that they would call me tomorrow. I was livid. My crib was already 3-5 weeks late and now it's in and I can't go get it! I convinced her to check to see if my crib was in, and it was, and they agreed to let us come get it that day. The owner helped us load the crib, and told us some wild story about how the wrong freight company had picked up this order of cribs and basically held them hostage because he refused to pay this freight company because he likes to use the other freight company. So, I, along with who knows how many other customers, had to wait, with my due date fast approaching, an extra 3-5 weeks to get my crib because he had some personal vendetta against this freight company or refused to pay a little extra to use them or whatever. And, to top it all off when we got the crib home and started putting it together, we noticed it had been slightly freight damaged. The damage was just cosmetic and after all the stress I'd been through with Play Pen just to get my crib, I didn't even bother reporting it to them. I was considering ordering some christmas presents from Walmart.com for my sisters kids, but decided to get out of the house and support my local small businesses instead, even if I had to pay a little more. When I walked in an associate walked to me, cheerfully greeted me, and proceeded to help me find exactly what I was looking for AND it was cheaper here than online at Walmart! And don't be fooled, I thought it was going to be all baby stuff when I was first walking in but they had some awesome toys for kids of all ages. Low prices, clean and well organized store, and top notch customer service. So I ordered it and made my down payment on it and started preparing the rest of my baby’s room decor. Well an entire month later—after I have already purchased multiple things to match the bedding I picked out— they call to tell me that the main fabric I had chosen was no longer available.
