My name is Sharon and I purchased a futon couch on a whim because it was at a great price, the gentleman in the furniture department who assisted me was absolutely stellar! The only issue is that i'm no spring chicken and neither is my sister who was with me- we came back together and realized that we could not load and unload it ourselves. We had to wait on my grandson to return home from a nursing job in Chapel Hill. We explained this to Miss Olivia and she was absolutely kind and compassionate-understanding that 2 elder ladies weren't able to handle the futon. Once Mason returned home on Tuesday, he came down with a stomach flu and hasn't been able to accompany me to p/u the futon. I called and luckily reached Miss Olivia again, explained the situation, and she was truly professional and patient with my request to hold the futon until we could make other arrangements. Please pass along my sincere gratitude to these fine representatives of your organization! Miss Olivia and Andrew in furniture are truly gems!

Read moreI haven't taken advantage of Big Lots regularly in the past, but after my last experience (5/5/2019), that will changing. I have always found the staff exceptionally friendly & helpful, and the pricing quite competitive - especially on larger items. (browse through Big Lots prices before buying at Walmart!)

Regarding staff, I'd like to most highly recommend Jamie if you have serious/complicated questions. She explained ("Barney style") the ins-outs-and-whatevers involved in their lease-to-own program....and positioned herself to complete my transaction. She's fantastic, easy to understand, has an infectiously good spirit, and obviously loves her store and it's patrons.

The female manager appeared irritated by my request, as if I was interrupting her. She eventually offered a smaller discount than the original person I spoke with. When I mentioned this, she seemed even more frustrated, rolling her eyes as she walked away to consult with someone else.
