Was very excited about staying in a brand-new hotel. But endured a night that no one after traveling should go thru. The entrance is clean and beautiful. Our first room was dusted with plaster dust, plaster everywhere and open bottles of lotion, hair in the shower at which we turned around and requested another room. We got 520 which was not better and worst for the fact that the room had never been cleaned from the building of it. The new floor had glue on it the shower was damaged and looked like it was repaired, the whole shower base had large chunks of plaster in it. and plaster dust. The bath sink had plaster dust all over it clean new towel were placed on the towel racks with all this dirt and dust not cleaned up first . the TV was facing downward because it was secured properly, the floor of the room was so dirty that when you went bare footed the bottoms of your feet were cover with plaster Debrie. We had to put a bath towel on the floor just to wipe our feet before we went to bed, and we could not use the shower because of it being so dirty with plaster pieces. I made the night front desk aware of this and all they could say was sorry. The best part of the room was new bed, new pillows and new sheets and the extra pillow I got when I asked for them. I would love to return in a few weeks when I'm travelling back that way to see if this new hotel has been cleaned for a guest to enjoy. Looks like management pushed for an opening without cleaning the hotel first of the construction left over. Why the hotel felt it was acceptable for folks to stay in a dust/plaster dust filled room is beyond me Also, they still have some construction on the lower floor going on guest should have been made aware of this and breakfast was limited no signature...
Read moreThe good. The staff were friendly and courteous. The bad. The building is poorly finished. The flooring is several places gaps away from the wall and exposes the concrete underneath. The kickboard/ floorboards at the bottom of the walls were installed in such a way that the straight runs were bent around corners resulting in cracks and gaps. The shower pan in the room I stayed in was so poorly installed the the manufacturer's labels were not fully removed and simply caulked over with clear caulk. Caulking jobs are abysmal, looking like they were done by the 3 year old with a trowel, leaving large globs in spots while missing others locations. Mastic (tile and flooring glue) is all over the flooring in areas and is dried up in large spots. The fact that it is dried means that to correct the problem the flooring will have to be replaced. Kick/trim panels around A/C not trimmed or notched for installation resulting in pannel separating from wall. Very poor paint work, going from drips and runs to dry brushing where you can see the drywall coming through the paint, sometimes in the same room. This level of finish work indicates gross incompetents and/or excessive laziness on the part of both the workers who thought this level of workmanship was acceptable and the builder/ general contractor who obviously did not inspect for quality control. The visible portions of the structure are so poorly finished that you have to wonder what else is done this shoddy and covered so you can't see it. I would recommend that the owner seek legal representation to recoup the portion of the money payed for this structure that went to the finishing work and use that to have a company that is competent come in and refinish...
Read moreI have never, NEVER experienced a more disgusting room than I have at this appalling hotel. Of the 4 things that I have been subjected to, the giant cockroach has to be the worst!! I thought the blood or excrement spot on the toilet seat was bad, or the bathroom door not closing all the way or even the latch to the fire extinguishing access port in the bathroom were as bad as it could get but imagine my horror when I prepared to turn in for the night only to see a giant roach scurry from under the bed. I guess these are routine issues for this hotel as the front desk person was just blase about it. I will be contacting Onslow County's Health Department first thing Tuesday morning. I would say that I would follow that up with a call to their corporate complaint line, but I was hung up on twice when attempting to file a complaint. I will be checking out of this disgusting hotel tomorrow morning & praying I find another, cleaner, hygienic hotel to stay at where concerns are met with sincerity! I am going to follow this up with an email to Booking.com. I have made many a reservation through them and have never had so many problems in just 7 hours!!!
What is going to crawl on me while I sleep tonight?!?!?!
Ps, the cockroach finally crawled out from its hiding spot where I was able to beat the crap out of it. I spoke with a very nice rep at booking.com who requested they comp that deplorable room, call Hampton Inn & got myself a suite for tonight & tomorrow. I thought I was going to have to go home early due to not being able to get a room elsewhere, but Trina here at the local HI got me a king suite for my original 2 nights. I had to pay more but it was either that, go home or...
