Edit: I received a phone call from the manager shortly after my review. She was extremely nice and appreciative of my honest review to ensure this doesn’t happen again. She sent us a personal note and was sincere in her apology. She went above and beyond to ensure they don’t lose us as customers. This was a very nice gesture from the manager and very much appreciated. It says a lot about Havertys desire to do the right thing for their customers.
We have been customers of Havertys Furniture for close to 10 years. Almost all of the furniture in our home is from Havertys. Up until January 2020 we have been nothing but happy with their service and products. The sales people were always friendly and honest and promised delivery times and dates have always been met. We have been to many other furniture stores in the Jacksonville area and never find what we are looking for, but always seem to find it at Havertys. This January I came to the store on Philips Highway with my two children and was greeted by Rand. Very friendly and helped me find what I was looking for. We needed a simple loveseat that was smaller in size for our living room and an area rug to go with it. I found what I was looking for and was told by Rand that both items would be delivered within, “4-6 weeks. It typically doesn’t take that long, but it could be up to 6 weeks.” That’s not ideal, but what we ordered was not going in an area that is highly used. Fast forward to 6 weeks later, no update about our order so I call customer service. I got told they were both on back order and have been on back order. That’s funny, because when I placed my order I was NEVER told they were both on back order. If I had known that, I would have picked other items. Two weeks later the rug was delivered at 8 weeks. And then COVID-19 happened. Not their fault, but both of our items should have been delivered before COVID-19. After calling a few times during the shut down I got told numerous different things like, “it made it to Jacksonville but because of the shut down it wouldn’t be delivered until after reopening at the beginning of May.” “You’ll be one of the first deliveries in May.” Come May I am told that it was never in Jacksonville and the company making the loveseat was still shut down. At the end of May we get an email to schedule delivery ... first available day 5 weeks later on is June 23. Our window was 10:45-12:45. It’s just now being delivered at 2:15. I normally don’t leave reviews but I have been disgusted with the lack of honesty for the past 6 months. I’d be even more angry if we had nothing to sit on for 6 months, but luckily it wasn’t going in a place that is used often. It’s unfortunate that we had this experience because it has been our go-to place for furniture. But not anymore. A little honesty would have made this situation...
Read moreHuge disappointment!! Purchased a coffee table on Black Friday (and considered purchasing a Tempurpedic bed set); however, the store wanted over 8K for the bed set-up I wanted, so I decided to purchase only the coffee table, while I shop other competitors for black friday deals for the bed. I was told I would be assessed at $100 delivery fee (I live minutes away from the store) unless I purchase the bed, then my delivery could be free. I decided NOT to to succumb to sales pressure, so I opted to pick up my coffee table at a later date when I can acquire a different vehicle (I drive a sedan)—-showed up today 12/10 and it was an all female crew working (no one in store) and I backed my vehicle to the front of the store. I was told (with attitude) “why did you park there for pick-up you’re suppose to go to the back!” as if I am suppose to know this info. So as I walk back to my car to move it a female associate yells “WHAT ARE YOU PICKING UP!?” (I felt like I was bothering their quiet time..there were no other customers in the store/empty parking lot)..instructed to pull to back of store and then I was told “we don’t have a porter today so you’re going to have to move it yourself.” I had brought a measuring tape to check widths, etc and I knew it was going to be a tight fit, but perhaps I could shift the box around,…as I am struggling with this massive heavy box in the wearhouse, I had to ask for a dolly….no one offered to lift a finger to help me, I finally get the box on the dolly and wheel it out to my prius, and I was struggling, but unfortunately it would not fit in the vehicle. I understand the ladies are in heels, but no assistance was offered. I never expected to to do manual labor to pick-up an item and having to fetch it myself from their back warehouse—no one offered me a solution—(ie maybe offer to have Someone assemble the table and maybe I could fit it in my hatchback later today)—I was extremely frustrated to one: be treated like a migrant worker and two: just poor attitudes and unhelpfulness and unwillingness to help overall. I have been looking forward to having this coffee table in my home since June of this year and patiently waited for Black Friday to do my purchase. I requested cancellation due to unwillingness to help and having to do manual labor with absolutely no regards with helping the customer whom paid for this high-end table. These girls working here need a serious attitude adjustment! I never expected to be treated this way at a high-end furniture store. I never felt welcomed from the minute I arrived to the store to pick up my item. My feedback has been shared with the corporate office and it would take quite a bit of damage control for Haverty’s to ever win my business again—I will wait...
Read moreWe walked in looking for a dining room set. We found one we liked that had a bench with Carla Glavins. A few days ago when we were looking, she was very flexible about when we come back to make the purchase and was being helpful. We went to a different furniture store and found a dining room table as well as a few other pieces that are similar in style to the one at Havertys at a price point we liked, but we wanted to buy a couple of the benches from the set we picked out from Havertys to go with the other furniture. My husband and I went back into Havertys today to purchase the benches and asked for Carla as she told us to ask for her when we make our purchase. I got there and told her we actually only wanted to benches and showed her a picture of the dining room table I fell in love with. Her response was less than professional. She REFUSED to sell us the benches telling us we need to go online and buy them if we wanted them because she said her integrity wouldn’t allow us to buy it from her as in her eyes it did not go together and the color of the set at Havertys was TOO UNIQUE to match other furniture with so she’d rather take the hit on her commission than do this. This would have been an at least $1200 purchase. I am 8 and a half month pregnant, we made the trip to the store and asked for her, only for her to turn us away and talk down to us like we didn’t have eyes or taste? Like we were WRONG for wanting to put the two together in our home? I got a second opinion from someone else from another furniture place, and they agreed with me that it would have looked nice together. We left baffled and wasted our time. We closed on our new home today and this put a little damper on our day and made us more work. My husband and I were very unimpressed by her unprofessionalism and waste of our time to say the least. The first picture is the original Havertys set we liked, the second picture is the dining room table I fell in love with, the third picture is a close up of the bench at Havertys. Unless my husband and I are really lacking in the color coordination skills so the pieces really would have an abomination next to each other, I don’t see a justifiable reason for the way she treated us in the...
