Conanicut Gift Shop & Arcade — Local services in Jamestown

I was so incredibly displeased in how my family was treated at the gift shop today! I was in with my two little girls (for a 3 and 5 year old they were actually very well behaved throughout the time in the store- I made sure of it). I felt a consistent feeling of being watching the entire time we were in the store but in a negative way, as if they were waiting for my girls to do something wrong. We were asked several times “if we needed help?” which normally is a nice gesture-however it was apparent it was in a passive aggressive manner, this was very apparent given both women’s tone of voice when they approached us-again at this point I have no idea why and proceed to shop. My girls picked a gummy kabob candy and when I noticed it was broken while checking out-I was then chastised by one of the workers behind the counter and was super embarrassed as she disapproved of the exchange and announced to the front of the store that she saw my child break it in the store while shopping (so the feeling of being watched was not my imagination). I was so shocked I became very defensive and didn’t say what I should have -which was the fact that almost ALL the candy pops were broken or slightly disfigured, did my child damage all of those?! No of course not-But instead again embarrassed me at the counter saying she could not sell the one my little one “damaged” however in actuality they all were damaged hence why I wanted one that was not. On our yearly vacation, we stop in the store to get some Jamestown momentos. So many wonderful, unique items to choose from! Towels, glassware, wall plaques, clothing, sandals and lots more!
