On Sunday, January 5, 2025, between the hours of 4:00 to 5:00 pm my husband and I were walking through Golfview Mall in New Port Richey when we noticed Family Discount Furniture. We walked into the store to just look around as there were lots of beautiful items. We were approached by Jason who provided my husband with the price of a bed and dining table set. My husband on impulse gave Jason his information to see if he would be âeligibleâ for financing. Jason immediately ran my husbandâs credit and executed a purchase agreement. From there he quickly started trying to rush us to set up and schedule a delivery date for the next day, Monday, January 06, 2025. We left the store and returned and decided that it was not a financially smart decision and changed our minds. The next morning at 8:00 am my husband contacted Jason and told him we no longer wanted the merchandise and to cancel the order and delivery as we knew the warehouse would be picking up deliveries before 11:00 am. Jason refused my husband the opportunity or right to arbitration and any provision associated with cancelling the order. He then proceeded to tell him we had to take the merchandise. My husband proceeded to let him know that 24 hours had not passed and that again he did not want to make the purchase. Jason fully disregarded everything my husband explained and continued to maintain his delivery schedule. My husband then immediately contacted the financing company Koalafi and notified them of the situation at 10:32 am and canceled the agreement with them as well. From there the finance company advised that they would investigate the situation and to not sign or accept the delivery which we did not. In fact, when the delivery truck came to our home we were not there. My husband contacted the finance company again and asked why the delivery was not cancelled as there was more than enough time to cancel the delivery. My husband also contacted Jason again and notified him that he contacted the finance company and cancelled the purchase. He asked Jason if he needed to come to the store and Jason told him no because at this point my husband had become furious that Jason and the furniture store were trying to force a purchase. The finance company then sent us an affidavit to sign on January 9, 2025, stating that we did not receive the merchandise. We signed the affidavit and felt like the situation was resolved. We then received this email: According to the finance company, âThis lease was funded on 01/05/25. As a reminder, it is a funding policy violation to fund a lease prior to the customer receiving all items. If items have been delivered to the customer, please forward us a signed delivery receipt or invoice confirming the delivery.â Mind you, we never received or signed for the delivery and made every effort to cancel the sale and purchase within 24 hours. How and why was the lease funded before the delivery if this is a blatant violation by the lender? There is video footage and testimony from our neighbors to corroborate that nothing was received. On Friday, January 24, 2025 we received another email from the furniture company: We then contacted the finance company with our grievance again and were told, well you need to pay for the merchandise or contact the store as our investigation is done. As consumers, both Family Discount Furniture and Koalafi engage in predatory and fraudulent business practices. They refuse to allow customers the ability to refuse or cancel purchase within reasonable time constraints and force them to pay for services not received. Their business tactics are unethical and...
Read moreBuyer beware. 1st of all the website shows Ashley furniture at reasonable prices. This is not the case when you go to the showroom. Half of the store looks like something out of MTV cribs. The other half is normal looking. We purchased a living room set on Tuesday 3/11. We had to make sure we had someone to remove our old furniture before delivery to avoid yet another charge. We said we would call them to schedule. We did within an hour of getting home. We spoke with Gabe that told us it would be on the delivery schedule for Thursday 3/13. However, he could not give us a time frame. This morning still had not heard from him so we called. We were told that it was scheduled for tomorrow 3/14. Absolutely unacceptable. I knew there was something fishy from the get go. But the price seemed reasonable. Also, we were told by the lady that the furniture was in stock and ready to go. Upon checkout a 3rd guy came in and said it would be an additional $200 for delivery and assembly. I called and spoke with another guy today and he said that everything came from the Tampa store not the New Port Richey location. So who is lying here?? Another woman then called me to follow up and explain the situation. When i expressed how unacceptable this transaction was, all she said was " Yeah it...
Read moreOur experience at this furniture store was very disappointing. When we first visited, the sales agent specifically told us we were purchasing a real wood bedroom set. However, once the furniture was delivered, we realized it was not real wood at all. We went back to the store to address the issue, and the same sales agent denied ever saying it was real wood. Instead of taking responsibility, he said we would have to pay more if we actually wanted real wood furniture.
He offered us an exchange, but only for the bed frame, box spring, and mattressânot the full set we originally paid forâunless we paid extra. During this conversation, he was constantly answering phone calls while we were trying to speak with him, which came off as very rude and unprofessional.
In the end, we agreed to just accept the bed frame, mattress, and box spring, as my father needed somewhere to sleep. When it was delivered, the front of the frame was damaged. Thankfully, someone did come out to replace it. The delivery team was greatâvery polite and efficient. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the sales agent or overall customer service.(Port...
