I’ve played at this course 3 times, and each round has taken over 2.5 hours. The pace of play is INCREDIBLY slow. This is a public park district course, so a lot of beginners golf here, which results in slow pace of play, however the course still only spreads their tee times out by 10 minutes.
During today’s round, it took us 1 hour to play the first 3 holes, and another hour to play the next 4. After the 8th hole, we left the course as we had already been playing for 2.5 hours. The ranger told us that they expect each hole to take 15 minutes, however they still stagger their tee times 10 minutes apart, so the course is destined to get backed up.
Overall course was in great condition, however you need to be prepared for at least a 2.5 hour round, and know that you will be waiting...
Read moreThis is a decent 9 hole course right in the middle of the city of Chicago! Not many course in the city but this a really challenging course. It can get backed up at times and is not as hidden as the nearby Edgebrook golf course, but its an enjoyable 9 hole course. They have a putting green and the pro shop has everything you need.
The 3rd hole is a shorter 275 yard par 4 that is reachable on the fly, other then that though most of the holes are pretty tough and there is a fair amount of water involved. It makes sense to join the forest preserve golf club and get your discount on every round, plus they give you a few coupons to use that makes it worth it just for that. You also get a lot of free $10 off coupons as you play, making it a great...
Read more9 hole course in Northwest Chicago. It's a favorite for folks in the neighborhood (and the young guns from the local bars). It's pretty much a straight course..no sandtraps..water comes into play on 2 holes. If you can hit it straight and 170 to 200 off the tee, you'll do just fine here. It's also the chosen course for Spring-Summer bar golf for what I believe to be the best neighborhood bar in the city (The Nil Tap on Elston Ave.). After what is always a fun round of golf, beer and bets, everyone retires to The Nil to brag or make excuses and settle up over a "few" cool ones and heavy on the camaraderie. Billy Caldwell is nestled in a nice city neighborhood. Is perfect for a quick round after work or to tune up your...
