8/12/25 This particular location (Elston) has a wonderful selection of fresh bakery and hot deli items, reasonably priced produce, and good quality cuts of meat. However, I only give this franchise 3 stars because most items are so expensive, cereal, soda and snacks in particular. (A bag of potato chips, for instance, can cost as much as $5.99, same with cereal).
On the other hand, sometimes they have decent sales, such as buy-one, get-one-free offers, or two jars of Hellman's mayonnaise for $3 a piece, verses $5 each. While the store is clean, well-stocked and lines move along fairly quickly, my husband had an issue with a cashier here on Monday, August 11th, at 7:52 pm. (I'm leaving out the cashier's name to protect her identity). My husband paid with cash and found $5 worth of change in his pocket. He tried to buy something, but the cashier brushed him off and wouldn't ring up the item because she didn't want to count coins. With all due credit, we've been coming to this particular location for 19 years and never had an issue with an employee. The service is generally good otherwise. ONE incident in almost 2 decades isn't a bad track record, so I won't take a star off for this incident. (I only give the store 3 stars because of the prices, not because of what happened). As a wife who is 22 years younger, and makes sure the world doesn't leave him behind, take advantage of or cast him aside, I'd like to employ a compassionate, diplomatic approach to resolving this:
This cashier may be taking care of parents or grandparents someday and will want them to be treated with curtesy. Patience is a virtue, and I understand that having to count coins holds up the line a little bit. But rather than call this cashier out by name, I'd rather she give more consideration to my 75-year- old senior citizen husband next time. People need to be patient. It won't kill them to wait an extra 2 minutes to be rung up, and the world isn't going anywhere, anyway. Someday her parents and grandparents may be in the same shoes, paying with change. That's what seniors do: they pay with coins, and everyone knows it. Revenge and outing people by name aren't my thing. All I ask...
Read moreI don't know if it's this Tony's that's a problem or if all Tony's have the same problems, but they need to do a lot of work to improve the customer experience. There is almost never enough registers open so you have to do self-checkout almost always. Every time I'm in there, the self-checkout machine rings at least one or two items with the wrong price, which leads me to believe that they do not maintain the labels on the items that you're buying from them. The staff don't seem to care and they don't pay attention to when you need assistance. I've gotten so many annoyed looks, just trying to check out and pay the correct price. I've overpaid for items that were either supposed to be on sale or were marked up at the register. You have to wait a really long time for the service desk to adjust items if anything rings up incorrectly and those staff members are often pulled away to handle other issues in the store. It's like no one is running the place. I've tried to voice my concern to the service desk employees about those issues. They acknowledge that there's issues with their pricing and how things are ringing up but they say they know but they can't do anything about it. Honestly the only reason I go here is because I feel I have to since it's so close to me. The store isn't even always laid out in a way that makes sense and items aren't where you think they should be. For example, they have an aisle that says "cookies" But if you really wanted some cookies, you'd have to get it when you first walk in by the bread. The only good part about this Tony's is that the produce is okay and they do have most of the items that you're going to need, as long as you could find them in the store. This place is fine if you're in a pinch, you live close by and you don't want to drive too far out of the way to get some groceries, to get some groceries. Otherwise, I would try any other grocery store. Sorry Tony's, I hate leaving bad reviews but you're going to need to really make some...
Read moreOn May 1st at 8:20 am, I went to buy overwise milk for my children and took empty bottle with me as usual to return them. And bring this product (9 usd at Toni's per bottle of milk). I waited for a long time at costumer service,. None was working there then I asked the one at self check out to help me and she told me to ring the bell. I went to see the bell and it wasn't there. Then I told the lady that the bell was not there, she came and realized that they had put it in place so that no one could reach it. After some fiddling with a gift she stepped on the bell NEAR the window. I thanked her for her kindness and proceeded to ring the bell. Then a guy showed up who WAS pissed off. It seems that the day is going badly or not going well. First he complained to me why I was ringing the bell as a fire alarm. What an angry guy. I told him I had done it like people usually do and if he wanted a special tone to write it on the bell. Then he complained to me because I am returning the bottles wirh some color off the milk. And he said That I should wash them before bringing them back. It was an angry claim. He was a rude, rude person I never thought I would meet in my life. I don't know what kind of people work in this atore. But they should teach themanners and civility to be polite, and courteous to costumers. I asked him to Calm down and be more cautious when dealing with clients. But for now TOnYs lost a cliwnt. I do respect the people who work in those places but they should be request to have common sense...
