Went in to donate plasma to try to supplement a little income while I am on FMLA leave for taking care of my terminal father.

Was treated rudely the second I walked in by a lady named Jana, aggressively questioned about what I ate for breakfast and told I didn’t eat enough. No problem, I went and ate more and came back.

Eventually she did my physical and told me my eyes were not dilating. She then went outside and brought another coworker in who said she did see my eyes dilate a little but not much (keep in mind the way they test this is by turning off the lights completely in a windowless room.) I asked if I could see for myself in a mirror or be reevaluated by someone else, and was told flatly no, that she already put it in the computer, and I needed a letter signed by a doctor.

The letter is worded in a way that is asking a doctor to confirm my eyes are not dilating and that it is okay to donate plasma regardless, which no doctor will want to sign without re-examining me to make sure my eyes do dilate. Which means a copay for a doctor visit and wasting more time and money.

Which if my eyes were not dilating, I’d have no problem with. But they clearly do, I can look in a mirror with a flashlight, which I did the second I got home.

This lady picked the one thing she could be subjective about to deny me. At one point she was just staring at me during the test without even using the light for an unnecessarily long extended period of time. It was like she was trying to intimidate me or something, it was very uncomfortable.

Despite this she had no problem finishing the physical, consisting of her rubbing her hands all over my body, despite denying me for my so called “lack of eye dilation “.

Look, maybe she just can’t see well in the dark and the process needs to be reevaluated, or maybe I’m right she comes across very rude.

Either way it is ridiculous. I called to ask a manager if I could be reevaluated, as my eyes clearly dilate, and was told promptly no and to file a complaint, and hung up on by someone named Christy.

If any corporate folks over this chain read this, how are the numbers at this location compared to others?

I get the type of clientele that show up to these places can probably wear on you. You can assume what you want. I am frustrated for my time being wasted and being treated rudely. I don’t care about the money. This was just something to do while my father was getting his treatments at the hospital.

Update to their automated review response: No, I already tried doing that and was hung up on. I was not cursing, raising my voice, or saying anything threatening to warrant such behavior. There is a certain degree of empathy and kindness necessary for any field that can be considered healthcare that this location clearly lacks in some of its employees. It felt like the cliché stereotype of going to the DMV. I encourage your organization to not lose sight of the true purpose of plasma donation centers: to bribe people of lower economic status to sell parts of their body for small payments which in turn can then be resold for a much higher price, and to maximize profit by underpaying your employees for the privilege of growing colder and more dead inside, day after day after facing the homeless and drug addicted population, and others who are willing to sell their body for a chance at increasing their chances of survival in this economy.

It’s okay, I don’t love my job either I get it. And watching my father die every day has encouraged me to focus on things like this as a channel to burn off some of my angst, (while I wait for him to be transferred to yet another hospital), much like the actions of rude DMV or Plasma Donation center employees who feel a little catharsis in schadenfraude.

We’re not so different, you and I. takes a drag off of a cigarette

How was it for you?

Take...

2 weeks ago, one of the phlebotomist performed my vein puncture. Not only did she bury the needle completely in my vein(no metal at all showing outside of my arm), it took almost 6 hours for the bleeding to stop, I had a large lump under my skin at the puncture site, bruising halfway down my arm and my arm stayed sore for more than a week. So, I did not want her to perform my puncture again. Today I went back to donate and a different phlebotomist who is friends with the first phlebotomist, removed the needle and I had to sit there for almost 5 minutes (while she joked and chatted with other clients and employees), waiting for her to wrap my arm up so I could leave. After a long wait she said to me"oh, I guess you want me to wrap your arm?"My response was"Yes, please. I am willing to wait as long as a particular phlebotomist does not pull my needle."I never stated who the phlebotomist was and the one that pulled my needle started yelling at me"it doesn't matter who you don't want to pull your needle, everyone that works here is my people and I don't want to hear anything about them!"she was yelling at me so loud, that she could be heard all the way in the front (waiting area). Not only did I feel very unsafe at that moment, I was also extremely embarrassed that she was yelling at me. I will NEVER come back to immunotech. I never raised my voice to her, and I told her I wasn't going to tell her who I didn't want to pull my needle. But, she continued to yell at me in front of other clients and employees. I have never been treated so disrespectfully. Is this how Immunotech allows its employees to treat their clients. I am actually afraid to go back to donate now, due to feeling unsafe. Such a disappointment because I am a regular donor, I used to donate twice a week almost every week. But, never again. You can check your video on 2/25/25 @10:35, to verify how I was treated. Due to an inept phlebotomist sticking technique and an extremely verbally violent phlebotomist, I'm actually afraid of what they...

Very rude and thoughtless employees. I watched them be rude to a young man with Downs Syndrome. Terrible. Don't go to this place.

Update: Nicole, from corporate, wrote to me and apologized to me for witnessing their terrible treatment of the young man with Downs Syndrome.

Nicole asked me to call her, and when I reached "Wesley", he rudely put me on a long hold. Another unnamed man got on the line and refused to put me through to Nicole, nor to give me her direct number.

They did confirm that Nicole is at the corporate level.

There is obviously something very wrong with the management and customer service at the Jeffersonville location.

Again, I witnessed a terrible treatment of the young man who had Downs Syndrome.

I mentioned this poor young man with Downs Syndrome, while on my phone call with the rude, insensitive, thoughtless, overbearing "Wesley". I presume that this mean spirited, mono toned and mumble mouthed individual has been directed to deflect any negative communication that has been directed to upper corporate management. Management representative, Nicole should contact me directly through here, give me her last name and her direct phone number. This will help ensure that "Wesley" and the other recalcitrant staff members are re trained, and taken off the front desk, and and off the customer service telephone permanently.

No person with Downs Syndrome should ever be treated rudely, and non professionally, by "Wesley" and other staff members at the Jeffersonville location.

Again, Don't even consider going to Immuno Tek Bio Centers in Jeffersonville. The staff is absolutely detestable. This location should be closed down...
