I have always liked this pike nursery until today when I had an issue. They sold me what appeared to be Silverleaf Hydrangeas for Annabelle. I planted when it was small and with buds only to discover it was not Annabelle one month later. Since I was watering it a lot now it's 3 times as big. I took the pictures and also the Annabelle label that I kept to this place. I was hoping that they would give me a full refund or store credit without actually me digging it up. However this was not what Amanda (an assistant manager) has told me "You have to bring it back for an exchange or you have an option to purchase Annabelle". Then she went onto say "You have purchased this a month ago so it shouldn't be too much to just pull it up" then she said "We have a policy that even if the plant dies, you will need to bring it up for an exchange". I said to her this situation is not the same because it is obviously Pike's mistake and I should not have to work for it. I went around the town to try to find Annabelle and even talked to a guy here then purchased it. Then her tone started to get more aggressive and she asked me "what is it that you want?". At that point I had to say "I really don't appreciate your attitude toward me. What I was expecting was full refund or a free Anabelle with a sorry for the inconvenience. Or at least store credit of 50% of the price". Then she said I cannot do that because it's store policy. Then I said it is really frustrating I had to drive here and drive back I am not the one who cause this mistake. Then she said she can give me 10% off of the next one. Then I said more reasoning then she said 20%. I went on to say it is not enough. Then she finally said "Ok I just give you full refund just to get it past but why can't you just dig it up and bring it back". I did not say any further because she should know that I am a customer who received the wrong item due to store's mistake. If they really want to get that back, they should come to my place and dig it up. Even after that a month of my effort of watering will be a waste. I said I almost don't need the full refund but I want more of an apology. Then she said "that's why I apologized". (she was not apologetic at all) I told her that it is upsetting and by the time she really frustrated me so tear was coming down from my eyes in front of the other customers. A guy who brought Annabelle for me watching the partial thing asked "How is it going" so I said "not good". Then the another cashier watching the whole thing just laughed. When I picked up the new Annabelle and leaving the store none of the workers said sorry or anything at all.
So this whole conversation was super unprofessional and honestly I felt she was super cold and mean and I felt I was treated super unfairly. Even though in the end, she gave me the item I wanted, I felt hurt, emotionally distressed, and embarrassed in front of all the other customers. I do not think this is how a customer is supposed to be treated...
Read morePike's was genuinely one of the worst companies I have ever contracted work through. We hired the Pike's team to (1) design a landscape plan for our yard, (2) till up our upper and lower yards and lay zoysia sod, (3) construct a sidewalk down the side of our home and lay stepping stones to continue the path once inside our fence. From the beginning, we experienced tremendous issues with the company. The landscape designer knew we had pets and still sketched plans incorporating plants that are toxic for dogs to digest. There was no communication, whatsoever, between the designer and the workers, so they were constantly asking me what they were supposed to be doing and where (during my workday). I had to correct them multiple times on the appropriate places to be tilling land. They spend an inordinate amount of time (almost half of a day) building the walkway incorrectly. They failed to lay top soil beneath the sod, they were highly abusive to the sod and left it in messy heaps for hours in the sun as they left for lunch, wasted time and sat in the wheelbarrows and talked, texted on their cell phones, and took personal calls. It took them fours days to lay the sod (mind you, our yard is not large, at all.) They did not water the sod, they allowed it to overlay without cutting it to fit spaces, and they did not roll it out. I had to go outside and tell them to roll the sod, in which they rolled their eyes, brought down the roller, and still did not roll it--leaving without a word. They poorly constructed the walkway and left stones spilled over on both sides, used incorrect corner pieces, and left a massive pile of stones in our driveway over night directly in front of my garage door. (Heaven forbid I have an emergency. There was no way, whatsoever, for me to move my car out of the garage.) They left piles of sod in my neighbor's yard, failed to clean up each day, and ultimately left us with a lawn that (after an entire calendar year) has massive bald patches, is struggling to thrive, and is lumpy and uneven. They were unprofessional and the management we called in after the workers were done were equally as unhelpful. They told us they could pine straw the borders of our yard for free if it would make us feel better, but they would not warranty the sod or apologize for their worker's unprofessional conduct. Or the fact that the work took close to 5 days, total, when it was supposed to take one and a half. The entire experience was miserable and our yard has yet to recover. I would never, ever suggest using the Pike's team. It was unprofessional and felt like a scam from...
Read moreI have always appreciated the assistance of this location, but going down to two stars as the location has not trained as they promised over 3 times of feedback on my issue. Perhaps social media posting now will help them realize to pay attention?
I have had 5 loads of sod this past week. They continually load the sod grass to grass when I get 20 pieces, so that the dirt crumbles in my trunk, makes a mess, and I have some pieces that are parts vs. whole by the time I get the sod to the final desination. The correct way to load is dirt to dirt, so one is lifting from the grass side on bottom and top.
Almost every time, I informed when I realized the mistake of the loaders to the manager on duty or the supervisor of the area (who told me to merely tell them my preference when loading) and they redid the loading.
Unfortunately, today, I didn't catch it today and got home with the issue.
Shout out to managers, it is best practice to load dirt to dirt when you get multiple pieces, so it doesn't crumble and break apart in my trunk, and break into pieces before I get the sod to where I want it. I just for the 5th load had issue with this again, and called and talked to manager SAL.... Please Sal.. have the loaders trained as even daily work crews need...
