The quality and taste matched exactly how they looked.. perfect, fresh and delicious. The donuts are made fresh daily, all the filled donuts are filled right there on the spot when you order it (impressive) and they’re not stingy with any of the ingredients. The filled donuts are filled, the maple bacon donuts have a bunch of bacon, and the icing donuts have a good amount of icing.
I’ve been to another Sara Donuts closer to me, and it didn’t it taste or look the same as this location. I drove further for this specific location because the quality was consistently better and I’ll definitely always come here because of how warmhearted the owner is and how friendly all the other staff is.
I visited over a month ago for the first time and talked about how my brother found this place and it reminded me of a mom and pop shop in Houston, TX. I came in today and she immediately remembered our conversation about Texas and was just as nice and friendly as before. She’s only seen me once, and I don’t think anything visually stood out to be memorable. Story time— My dad’s best friend used to live down the road from Sara’s and would start all of his mornings with coffee and a donut from there. He was a proud Boston native, who would complain about “Donuts just not (being) the same,” down here and was a super critic of every donut south of Massachusetts. But he would also say that once he discovered Sara Donuts, he would gladly die from a diabetic coma if it meant getting to eat those fluffy treasures every day of life. He started bringing a box of glazed, chocolate covered, and strawberry iced yeast donuts to my brothers and me every single Sunday morning for a few years, and thus began my obsession. That was 15 years ago, and Sara Donuts still holds the top spot in my heart today. I don’t live close enough to experience it often, but there have been times I’ve made the 35-40 minute drive just because I needed that fix. I believe there are many great donuts around Gwinnett Co. but I know that none of them are greater than a Sara donut.
P.S. There are other “Sarah’s” locations around metro ATL, and they’re great, but the original Medlock Bridge spot is just something different,...
