I purchased Spypoint field cellular cameras, that said easy set up, and free option, for photos. I opened up the packaging to find out there is no way to set up the cameras unless another camera is purchased, by another individual, after I read the booklet, and installed the spypoint app, to get my pictures, I quickly found out through the set up videos, that you cant return the cameras, to the store if you dislike the cameras, and you must refer to a new or existing owner by email to purchase a camera or the cameras cant be activated. I did a self referral, then I got the email from Spypoint saying, "I believe that you would be interested in buying a SPYPOINT LINK camera and we have a special offer for you.By purchasing a camera as part of this invitation, you could enjoy immediately obtain $15 in SPYDOLLARS or, if you plan to purchase an additional camera you could take advantage of up to $ 100 mail-in rebate on the purchase of an additional SPYPOINT LINK camera." End of quote. I used my name again, and received the same email, but, then Spypoint stops you and demands at least 1 friend. I got the cameras for surveillance, and I couldn't set it up, and my 700$ lawnmower deck was stollen. I am still in possession of the cameras I paid almost 150$ for, and no way to get my money, or my lawnmower deck back, because Spypoint misleads you, by bait and switch, then you must read the book & download the app, to find out you must purchase the club, and pay for everything even so it says completely free option cost $99.99. This is sickening and a poor excuse for a company that seems to be growing bigger and bigger as I went back to Academy and they have all new lines of cameras and such, to Swindle out of the customers. The so called free photo package, neglected to mention on the outside of the packaging, that you only get buck pictures for free. The free photo transmission isn't free, it shows under the Insider Club that the purchase bonus for $99.99 includes, the free photo transmission, but buck pictures only, which makes no difference anyway because you have to pay for what they said was free. Academy is who, this review is on, but it is Spypoint products that really disgusted me. I purchased a camo car seat cover, that had a price reduction sticker on it, then I got it home and there was the back piece missing of the seat cover. So I guess I have to say the review includes them also shame on them for carrying products that are bait and switch and re-sell incomplete items. They had to not even...
Read moreI've been shopping at Academy for many years and have always noticed the GIGANTIC sign above the door. It says they'll beat any competitor's price by 5%, guaranteed. I've never tried it, but came across an online advertisement (from a competitor) for a great price. I'd rather my money stay local, so I double checked online and it clearly states they'll match online prices. I drove 30 minutes, waited in line for 10, as they had the product I wanted behind the counter, and when it was my turn, the associate got what I needed. On the way to the register, I asked about price match guarantee and the associate admitted that he was new and would have to ask the manager. I showed him the ad, he hollered at the manager who was about 20 feet away, and the manager replied, "Where's the ad from?" We told him the competitor's name and he immediately said, "No way. It has to be a big box store." I tried assuring them the competitor has multiple physical locations and is well known in the industry. He just said no.
On the way out, I decided to double check with another employee since the sign clearly says guaranteed. I waited in line at check out, and when it was my turn, explained the situation. The cashier assured me that they do price match and beat the competitor's price, but she'd have to have her manager approve it. She asked me to wait to the side and continued helping customers. When the other cashier was available, he came over and again said they do honor the store signage, but he'd have to call the store manager. Surprise. The store manager said no. I never saw them, the ear piece in the associate's ear was as close as I got. I thanked them for their time. The employees were great. Management, not so much. Rude and dismissive.
Long story short, don't bother with the price match guarantee unless you have a printed ad from Dick's or...
Read moreI am glad there is an Academy store in Joplin as I have a love and hate relationship with Dunham Sports! On this recent trip I stopped in to find a 6 gallon bucket. My family and I go through popcorn extremely fast, so I got an idea to buy a 50lb bag from Sams club. A 50lb sack of popcorn does not look great in the pantry, so I needed a container to put it in. I figure a typical 5lb bucket would be too small and headed to Academy to find this bucket! To my surprise they carried them, and were on clearance for just under $5! I got home, cleaned the bucket out and then poured close to 50lbs of popcorn in the bucket. There was a little bit left over that i was able to fit in a Zip Lock bag. Academy carries it all, the one gripe I have is trying to find kids shoes. It might be my bad luck, but every time I find a pair of shoes my kids like, they don't carry the size. Academy, thanks for rebuilding after the Tornado as it is great to have options for sporting goods in Joplin, MO!
