If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. There has been nothing but trouble over the past years with them and I have left with my teeth absolutely ruined due to the carelessness of the orthodontist and the ill practices they use. (there is only one doctor there.) I have so many reasons why I hate this place and I will list most of them. First off, don’t expect respect or to be treated like a human being if you’re using insurance and not paying with cash, they’re selfish and will treat you like dirt. The orthodontist is an absolute jerk, I’ve got many unsavory things to say about him but for the sake of the people reading this, I will filter myself. For example, the brackets are weak and I would constantly have them pop off, whether it be bumping my fork when I eat or brushing my teeth, the orthodontist had a habit of not only not taking responsibility, but blaming me for weak brackets that would pop off and constantly berating me to the point every time I’d have an appointment, I’d have anxiety attacks before going in, they’ve popped off in my sleep and I have swallowed a few on accident and due to them being metal and having sharp edges, it’s a huge hazard, if I had a lawyer, I’d sue this company. Not only that, but be sure not to have ANY sort of reaction to the glue cleaning, even if it hurts, it only pisses him off. I remember him bumping my tooth too far with the drill he was using to get the glue off and I twitched, a natural human reflex that cannot be stopped. He sighed heavily and glared at me. Another time he told me that I “could have really hurt yourself.” When the drill was in HIS hand. Every time I’d come in, my gums were swollen, I was unable to properly clean my teeth with the braces and how they were put on, he would constantly berate me to the point of my mother noticing it and complaining about it. Not to mention the constant gossip in the back that you’ll hear while they work on your teeth, some of the nurses have been very nice thought and deserve a better work place, unlike the doctor who shouldn’t have a degree, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t have a degree and is just playing dress up.
Main issue I had was the money and the greedy jerk of a doctor, my dentist even said they’d never recommend uncommon due to how many people come in from there with insane damage to their teeth. P.s, for every bracket you break, you are made to pay out of pocket, no acceptation, I’ve lost hundreds of dollars to their weak practices. Do not go here if you want your teeth looking nice afterwards! GO...
Read moreI honestly regret every last penny I have spent on this place. Last year I asked him to take my braces off because I was in so much pain It was hard for me to eat, and at the time I was pregnant. They told me I would have to pay $4000 out-of-pocket for that to happen unless I switch to Invisalign. First off, they don’t have Invisalign they have spark retainers. So instead of paying $4000 I decided to make the switch. I called and called for FIVE WEEKS and I would always get “I will have someone give you a call about the costs” no one ever called. One day I just showed up and demanded to be talked to. I waited for 3-4hrs before someone came to talk to me
Months after I got my braces taken off they tried to charge me $160 every month. I called them multiple times and they never did anything. I even had to switch bank cards because they would try and take my “missed payments” out of my bank to pay for the braces even though I no longer had them on.
The spark retainers were going great for the first couple of weeks. One day I put in a new tray and my tooth didn’t go high enough to fit in with the retainer. I kept going in and he kept telling me to wear them for three weeks. Every time I go in for the same issue even after I listen to him and his solution didn’t work nothing was ever done. It doesn’t take half a brain to realize that the retainers were either made wrong or my teeth didn’t shift as fast as they thought they would . Simple answer I just need new retainers made because they estimated what my teeth would look like wrong.
Back to the pay thing every time I go in there they tell me I need to pay the money before I can get back there and explain to them every time and nothing is ever been done. It’s been over...
Read moreSo all together I had my braces on for about 2 years and 7 months. I transferred from an office in Texas down to Uncommon Orthodontics in Joplin. The process was actually quite easy transferring from one place to another. I give four stars because there was a lot of turnover the year and a half that I was there with the orthodontists. At the end they finally got an orthodontist to stay that had been there for a while now. I liked him, he was ok. Didn’t try to get to know you or anything but was friendly and professional. With the assistants it’s either a hit or a miss. I appreciated several of the assistants but there were some other assistants that I would ask not to get. When I transferred over I had ceramic braces which uncommon doesn’t use or really like to deal with. They would always complain that I had them but I didn’t want to pay full price to get them taken off just to put on traditional braces because it was extra work for them. All in all it was a pleasant experience. I am happy to have my braces off and that’s all that matters. This was the only office I checked into when moving to Joplin so I can’t compare it to any other orthodontic offices. I would recommend this place because they do accept payment plans and care credit for low income people such as myself. Anyways they did give me a pretty smile so I thank them for that and I would recommend...
