I was in town with my husband and kids. we chose this restaurant due to the amazing reviews and thought it would be kid friendly. Unfortunately we had a HORRIBLE experience due to the shift lead/manager on duty.
First our meals all came out at different times. The two kids meals came out after we had ordered 15+ min, then 15+ min later mine, and then 10+ min after that my husband's and other daughter's was how we finally all got food. I will say the rest of my family was pleased with their food. they said it was hot and tasty.
However, my burger came out cold. the bun seemed like it had just been pulled out of the fridge, my burger cold and hard, cheese unmelted, and the cast iron dish it came in was room temp. When the worker came to bring my husband and daughter's food I did complain because it was inedible.
This person (she claimed.to be the shift lead/manager on duty) immediately got defense that there was no way it was cold, it has been on the grill for 20 min. I told her it was (and with her attitude) I said I wanted a refund. She informed me that it was company policy they did not give refunds, and she could give me loyalty points. I told her I was from out of town and that would not help. At this point she wasn't just being defensive, she was also being just flat out rude and snotty telling me it wasn't her fault.
She offered to make me some Mac n cheese instead, and I informed her that I was diabetic thus ordering the burger. I asked her to at least have it remade. She told me NO that it would be the same. I asked for a manager and she informed me she was the shift lead/manager on duty and the only one I could talk to. I asked for the corporate number and she told me they were not corporate. I then asked for the owner, and she said she couldn't give me the number.
I admit at that point I was irate. She was defensive, rude, and just out right nasty to me. I want to know what happened to customer service. I have done good service, customer service, sales, and management most of my life. I have never been spoken to/treated so horribly by a restaurant worker none the less a "manager."
I finally had enough and stated that if she would do nothing then I would call my bank and have our $70 charge reversed since I did not get actual edible food. She said fine and stomped off. I proceeded to contact my bank.
In that time she must have called the owner or a manager above her because I heard her complaining about me to someone on the phone right behind me. She did get me a refund and came over and slammed it on the table next to me staying "here is your refund." She then turned and stomped off without another word to me.
Needless to say I will NEVER go to a MacCheesey again ever no matter where I travel. They seem to not care about their customers or how the staff treats them if the owners allow such behavior from their employees and refuse to speak...
Read morePlaced an order in the store for large traditional mac n cheese, plain cheeseburger, garlic knots and 3 drinks to go as we were traveling. I paid and tipped 20 percent which was over $50. They told us about 10 minute wait and we said great. There was no one else in the store. 10 minutes into the wait, a young man with gloves on digs through the front desk area to find a key. He leaves the store with a bucket and what appears to be 1 garlic knot. He comes back and says to the other employee that the key did not work. They complain to each other a little about it and he takes another key back out. He comes back with the same empty bucket and tells the employee that he can’t find the knots. He comes out and says sorry, we don’t have any garlic knots. I say that fine just give me a refund for those. He says okay, walks to the back and tells the girl to give me a refund for those. She comes out and says sorry he’s new and it’s our policy to not give refunds. She offered me loyalty points. I said I live 3 hours away so could I just get a side salad which is the same costs as the knots. She said sure, 30 minutes later they bring the sack of food out and the lettuce on the salad is quite brown/wilted. The cheeseburger is way over cooked and tough with a bun hard enough that the plastic knife won’t cut it. The Mac n cheese was good but for 50.00 and an extremely long wait and horrible customer service…. I won’t be back when we pass through the town. Sad part is we used to look forward to this stop. Many things wrong with this visit: Employees don’t know what food they have to sell. Store won’t give refunds when they sell something they don’t have. Quite sure that is illegal. They wear gloves and touch things they shouldn’t and then touch my food again…never changing gloves. Employees chat loudly about how awful their life is working there is front of us. The salad is old and should have been thrown away. The cheeseburger was way over cooked probably left over. Employees never once said I’m sorry.
Between the health code violations, bad food, and poor service...
Read moreOur family stopped for dinner at MacCheesy on our way to St. Louis. We got there about 30 minutes before they closed and they already had the chairs leaned up against the tables so we were not sure if they would serve us. When we asked they said yes, but that due to the time, our meals of mac and cheese would not be served in the cast iron skillets. They served them in take-out containers. We ordered Garlic Knots, a Pizza Mac n Cheese, Cheddar Bacon Mac n Cheese, Chicken Ranch Mac n Cheese and a Burnt Ends Mac n Cheese. They were all very good, but would have been better served in the skillets! We also wished the marinara sauce for the garlic knots were served warm instead of refrigerator cold. We also had two shakes and they were works of art! We had a S’mores and a Birthday Cake! The s’mores was definitely the better one! The cost is a little expensive in my opinion for what you get. I was a little frustrated that at about 20 minutes until closing time, they told us we needed to refill all drinks because they were shutting down the drink station. I also did not appreciate them emptying all the trash containers while we were trying to eat. I understand it was close to closing time, but there were customers in the restaurant and they should have waited until we were...
