It was a double birthday celebration as my sons birthday was the day we went to Rib Crib and mine the day before. It was his treat and he had never been to Rib Crib. My wife and I had been to the one located in Springfield MO. This was my second time to visit the Joplin MO location.
Got seated right away as we got in on the tail end of lunch. The hostess got our drink order rather quickly. But the lunch order took longer to place as she was finishing up with multiple customers; obtaining refills, bringing out orders, getting to-go boxes for leftovers, etc. No worries on our end as she was doing her best.
Got our order placed as we got fried Okra for appetizer. My as on got the two meat combo as did I. He got fried chicken and ribs. Sides were mashed potatoes and gravy along with corn on cob. I got pulled pork and brisket. Sides were mashed potatoes and gravy with fries. My son stated his was pretty good except the mashed potatoes tasted as they came from a box. I concured. Lumps in potato mix maybe to simulate that of real potatoes that were mashed. Gravy was mediocre. My fries were good not great. Corn on cob was really good according to my son. His fried chicken was flavorful and cooked spot on. Pulled pork was tender but we both felt it lacked in seasoning and smoked flavor. My brisket was nice and tender. Moderate flavor but not much smoke flavor detected. The sauces offered helped. He had a soda and I had sweet tea. The tea was fantastic!
The desert was free for it was our birthday. Our hostess took care of this. We got a brownie sundae with Vanilla Beane ice cream. It was very good!
Certainly would go back to this Rib Crib location in Joplin. It's been a decade at least since I had been to the Springfield MO Rib Crib. Longer for the Joplin local. We were very happy we went and had a great time.
By the way, the fried Okra, it was perfect and plenty of it. A lot of leftovers to be had later as we...
Read moreWe were seated by our waitress. I don't care if you wear a mask or not. Asymptomatic people don't need to wear masks (I'm a physician and epidemiologist). But if you're going to wear one, at least do it right. Our waitress didn't keep her nose covered. We ordered drinks. My sweet tea came back unsweet. The last time we were here, it tasted like raspberry, which I can't stand because it tastes like soap to me. I told the waitress, who asked if I'd like for her to bring sugar. I said "I guess, but if I order sweet tea, it should already be sweet." She left and came back after a few minutes and asked if I wanted her to bring sugar. I said "No." She asked if I wanted something else. Their drink choices are terrible, so I reluctantly ordered Dr Pepper and told her no ice. She brought me a Dr Pepper with ice packed in from top to bottom. I ordered the club sandwich. When it arrived, the toast on it was burnt. I pointed this out to the waitress and she asked if I wanted her to bring me more. I said ok. After a while, she brought me two slices of toast that were also quite burnt, but slightly less so. I ended up only eating a little of the appetizer we got and my side item. No manager ever came by to check on us. She spent so little time at the table that I couldn't really say anything if I wanted, although I really didn't want to because she proved she couldn't do anything correctly and management didn't care. Her name was Allie. I hope her complete incompetence just meant she's new at waitressing. But why does the management not care, and why do the...
Read moreThe only reason I gave an extra star was because the gentleman delivering/working the take out orders (the one with the glasses and beard). He brought us our food. The fries were supposed to be with just cheese only. It came out with bacon on it and he was so nice and made sure cheese fries were made. It has been sitting out for a bit and never brought to us. This same gentleman noticed it was still sitting on the counter and he brought it out to us. We even hear him someone that is goes to our table. Still no one brought it but him. Shoutout to this guy. I wish I knew his name. The only time we saw our server was when she took our drink and food order (at the same time). It took her a bit to even come to our table. We watched her just standing and staring at the kitchen. I was out of water. My husband went ahead and filled it up for me from his cup as his we still have full so that I could get a drink. The server waited until after I was done eating to ask if I wanted more water. On top of that, we waited for a while for her to even come back for our check. Then we waited to get our boxes and pay. I wish we had cash on hand because he deserved the tip. Not the server. Thank you to the kitchen staff for making our visit a little bit better. Table 52...
