Throughout the 2 and a half years living here my opinion has gone from good to not so good to bad with this place. I would like to explain this for those thinking about moving in, you should keep in mind a few things they don´t tell you, before you make a decision. This is like phone companies, everything is so easy to move in and a terror when you have to leave!
Pros:
Cons:
Money grabbing company and extremely unavailable management in the office. It is so hard to find the manager in office hours, as she often leaves the office before 6pm and so many days she is not in at all. This means you have to deal with her assistants who can´t make any decisions without management approval and you are basically wasting your time. A couple of examples on this: I went to the office the day after I moved out to double check that we would get our deposit back and I was told very the assistant that everything looked good and in great condition and that they would get my final water payment from there and my final 2 days of rent. I confirmed this via email with the manager. Then one week later they tell us that NOT ONLY they are keeping our deposit, BUT they are charging us an extra $400 because the kitchen stove has some scratches!!! Then husband calls back and again, the manager isn´t in the office (surprise surprise), so the assistant tells him literally "she likes to charge for things, but usually she does´t charge for the kitchen stove", so I don´t know... FYI we left the house in impecable condition, and we took photos of everything, just in case. A kitchen stove gets marked since the day you start cooking on it, so it seems like Allure gives you the stove to look at it and not to cook on it. I was extremely surprised that something like this is not included in wear and tear.
AC issues all the time. At least in my apartment, the ACs had a lot of evaporation issues, which very often left us with no AC for a while usually in the summer. Luckily I learnt how to fix it my self and I could temporarily make it work until they came to empty the water.
Noise. The materials of the houses are so bad that you can hear everything everywhere. I could even hear the fan of the neighbor downstairs going on at night and every single argument they had.
Dirty. The corridors are covered in dead bugs. I personally don´t care so much about it but it is a fact.
Safety. I haven´t had issues myself but during my time here there where a couple of incidents of people getting mugged in the parking lot. What I did see was my bottom neighbors doing and dealing with drugs in the doorstep. They would always be smoking in the stairs and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The smell of the smoke coming out of their house was quite disgusting too. (Hopefully you will have better neighbors if you move there, this is just my experience).
Moving out nightmare. So, this not only applies to Allure but to Florida. You are only allowed to do year to year rent (or your monthly fees increase SO MUCH). So if you break the lease, you are responsible for the rent until not only new tenants sign a contract but until they move in!!! AND in allure, they make you pay for an extra week while they clean and paint the apartment. This means they can take your apartment off the market and in the last minute tell you that the new tenants have decided to push back the date of their move in, so you are responsible for an extra week. This happened to us, twice. And there was nothing we could do about it. This was OBVIOUSLY not explained to us when we signed the year lease, I specifically asked about because we were going it move out mid year and she made it look like it would be very simple and we would only pay until we stayed. So yeah! Just keep it in mind.
Mold and bug issues. I didn't this issues but I heard from a couple of friends who lived there that they had a...
First of all, I would not recommend this place, but if you do decide to rent with this apartment complex, ask for Eric at the office. He is the only office employee who treated us with respect. He was accommodating, knowledgeable, and timely. The rest of the employees treated us like we were a bother and always spoke to us so condescendingly. One of the office ladies always parks in a 30-minute parking front spot and leaves her car there all day. Not that it really affects me, but it just struck me as inconsiderate to potential customers and unprofessional. Now, the PROS of renting here: Beautiful, spacious, safe neighborhood, nice amenities, baseball fields right next door, plenty of trails to hike/run. Less traffic, so it was very safe to run and bike around the town. Tons of cabinet and counter space. Actually pretty affordable considering everything you get with it, including a really decent cable and internet package included in the rent. We were on the fourth floor and never once had noise complaints like every other apartment complex we've lived in, nor did we hear any of our neighbors on any side of us. But the CONS of renting here: Whenever it rains, certain areas of the complex flood horribly. I've seen massive puddles in front of many people's doors to the point where I can't see how it isn't leaking through the front door. We lived on the fourth floor above the dog park and didn't smell anything, but any time we went downstairs it smelled awful. We were also required to get parking decals for our car, but never saw more than a handful of decals on the cars parked in our lot. It was NEVER enforced, even when we complained about all the people who park there for the baseball games and food trucks (which, by the way, is A LOT). There is almost no parking available after 8pm. As soon as we moved in a year ago, I told the office that the upstairs bathroom in the gym has a toilet and a sink, but no soap or paper towels OR toilet paper. They put toilet paper in. I reminded them again, and they added towels. I reminded them again and again and again, and one year later, still no soap. They also have the cleaning ladies in the gym at 9am during the week. It seemed like every time I was in the gym in the morning, I had to deal with these ladies cleaning around me, the chemical smells, the vacuum cleaner. It was seriously unprofessional and hindered my workout. The trash pick up service is terrible. They spill trash in the elevator nightly, so the elevator (at least in building 4) smells horrendous all the time. They also hold the elevator open while they collect trash at night, so when I partially dislocated my hip and couldn't use stairs for 3 months, I had to wait for 10 minutes for the elevator. There is no pick-up on Fridays and Saturdays, so if you have a get-together or a movie night or dinner or something with friends, you have to deal with the trash overload, or haul it all the way across the complex to the only dumpster on site. And when there was a pick-up day, they always came early. You're supposed to put out your trash between 6-8pm. They should be arriving after 8. Some days we would get home at 7:30 and the trash was already collected. We routinely took trash out ourselves, which was such a hassle, since the dumpster was across the complex from us AND we were on the fourth floor. The also told us they only recycle plastic and glass, but had only paper recycling bins by the dumpster. When they finally corrected themselves, instead of getting blue plastic and glass bins, they just said Oh well. Recycle it yourself, or throw it in the trash. OVERALL THOUGHTS: Would not rent here again. I was going to give it a 2.5/5, but I can only give whole stars, so I rated it 3 only because of the neighborhood, nearby entertainment and food, and the beauty of...
Read moreI lived here for 2 years. Let's start out with the great things. The pool is wonderful. The fitness center is great, (except for the cable boxes carefully balancing on top of the TVs that fall off all the time and 8 TVs all controlled by the same remotes). The location near Roger Dean Stadium and downtown Abacoa is perfect.
However, don't be fooled. The management is terrible, condescending, vindictive and does not know how to deal with people.
After our lease was up we cleaned the unit thoroughly (I have a video showing the moveout condition). The manger told us it was the dirtiest apartment he has ever seen. They charged us for replacing worn carpeting and for deep cleaning, despite the fact that they had repainted the entire place and replaced all the carpets. They kept our entire security deposit and charged us an additional $97.
The clubhouse looks great, but it is only usable during hours the office is open. So, if you have a job and don't get home until after 6 PM, don't plan on using the clubhouse. I asked the management to keep it open longer, particularly during the pandemic so I could work in there, but was shot down because they were concerned about vandalism.
The place is over-run by middle school age boys. These kids throw rocks at balconies, break into the fitness center, pound on doors and run away, steal Amazon packages and cause all kinds of chaos in the pool area. The management takes no responsibility for their actions and pushes it off on the Jupiter PD, who can't do anything since it's an Allure issue.
The PD are there regularly dealing with issues. There was a drug dealer living there with people coming and going into his unit all the time. Cars are frequently broken into and the Allure takes no responsibility for this and refuses to add security cameras to the parking lots.
Friends living there had their washer and dryer break. It was weeks before it was fixed and they were told to take their clothes to an empty unit to wash them.
Fire alarms go off regularly at all times of day and night.
The elevator is a hot mess. It's a regular occurrence for the elevators to break and be out of service for days.
Bottom line, there are a lot of other places to live for a much safer and customer friendly...
