I usually find Food Lion a perfect place for quick shopping, staff is generally helpful or at least pleasant. This week it was very busy considering the threat of bad weather. There were 3 lines open and all were pretty full not down the isles but to the front of them. We were next in line and there was one other customer behind us. The light was on for this register. We placed our groceries on the belt, and as the customer in front of us was done the cashier Gladys asked if were together, I said no she said well I'm closed and shut her light out. We protested and she said well someone else will have to take care of you. The customer behind us hearing this said why do we have to go to another line and Gladys replied "because I'm walking out the door". A manager was called over and she let Gladys know she had to clear the line and keep her light on. Gladys's reply well maybe I'll just walk out and not come back. Still refusing to ring anyone up. Finally while still complaining abou5 us and the customer behind us she did ring us up slammed our groceries all in one back. Began making nasty comments and laughing then started a verbal altercation with the customer behind us and started cursing. She threw my groceries on the counter and walked away from.her register. A manager never helped other than to tell her to keep going no one deescalated the situation, verbal arguments and mistreatment of customers was not handled properly at all. I'm disabled and suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks and this was very triggering...
Read moreThis is one of those stores where they have forgotten that their shift and hourly tasking does not take precedent over the stores function of being in business to sell groceries. The employees will have tbe entire isles blocked off with racks and pallets for stocking the shelves and buggies for the trash made by opening the packages. Try to stay out of the way and not inconvenience the customer? Nope, just block it off and glare at the customer with a bump off look and let you know you are in their way. Say something to them and their response is that it is their job. Like I said....shift tasking does not take priority over the stores function of selling groceries. I mean....if the customers stayed out of the way and quit inconveniencing the employees by shopping there....how long does that last. Look at some of the old big grocery chains and locations. Not like bad business doesn't ever catch up. ...and if you are wondering if this was something the employees were doing and just so happened that somehow management was doing their job, but didn't notice....no. One of the managers was helping them block the isles off with these racks and buggies. Guessing a manager since he was wearing a dress shirt, which contrasted with his poor grooming and sloppy demeanor. I would assume that since he thought stocking the shelves and tasking takes priority over the store functions that he was someone who was promoted from a...
Read moreI've given this store plenty of chances. But there are several common themes. The men's restroom is always disgusting and smells like a hamster cage. Items that are on sale (according to the price tags) consistently ring up wrong at check out. And it can be hard to follow on screen because some items show the correct markdown price and then some items don't show the correct discount until the end, once the MVP card is run, and it's extremely annoying and easy to miss when the price wasn't correct. Perhaps most annoying of all is there is ALWAYS a wait at checkout with customers backed up into the aisles just waiting and waiting. The maximum checkouts is 5, which is WAY too few. Make this store like several other Food Lions that have self checkouts! I just want to blaze through the self checkout all on my own and be on my way. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a quick little trip to the store here to pick up a few things...you will spend more time in checkout than your shopping. You'll also be met at the checkout with several different grumpy faces, nobody employed here is happy to see you. Just aim for any other Food Lion, if at...
